Atlanta looks to win is 12th series in 14 tries tonight, as its the Braves and Brewers, Game 2.

Allan Winans will make his Major League debut tonight for the Braves, who are 63-33. Winans has been Gwinnett’s best pitcher this summer, going 7-3 with a 2.81 ERA. He’s gonna look a little like his Elder (who happens to be younger), Bryce. If Winans is successful, he will have to nibble and work the edges like Bryce has when he’s ben successful.
The Brew Crew counters with Adrian Houser (3-2, 3.79). Atlanta’s hitters, save Marcell NOzuna, have enjoyed success against Houser in the past. Ronald Acuna Jr. has a lifetime .429 avg against the right-hander, while Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley have hit him at a .375 clip. At the moment, nobody is hotter than Riley, who has five homes and 13 RBI’s in his last four games. Here’s to Riley having a 60-game heater like he has the past two summers.
Game time is 7:15 ET/6:15 CT for the Braves and Brewers, Game 2. Here’s how the Braves will lineup.
Congratulations to Allan! It’s always cool to see a guy make his big league debut. I hope it’s a productive one.
Agreed on all fronts. Exciting for Allan and his family. Let’s roll, Braves!
Ronald straight stole on a pickoff throw. Love that dude so much.
Wow….Winans certainly seems to have a good feel for changing speeds. Impressive first inning…
Nice job, Allan! That changeup looks like an especially good pitch.
Didn’t realize we were facing vintage Verlander tonight
We pitch away from our defense so much it is maddening
I thought that Fox was not projecting that annoying artificial strike zone you see everywhere else. Now I see they have one, but it isn’t nearly as distracting as what we usually see.
My goodness, Austin Riley.
So, I’m blacked out…but the gamecast location of that pitch makes no sense that he hit a home run on that pitch – none other than he is on quite a heater!
Soooooo… Austin Riley’s got decent odds for NL player of the week, right?
Made it to the game thread! Broke down in Kansas on the way to CO Springs. We left car there and rented a minivan. Today, we left Kansas in the fixed car and drove 10 miles and broke down again. So…we rented another mini van. Made it to St. Louis and will drive 12 hours tomorrow with a 7 y/o, 5 y/o, 6 mo. old, and a dog. Send prayers and beer.
Ryan, may the best of your past be the worst of your future!
🙏🏼🍻
That count? 😉
Hard to cover the whole zone when the umpire is giving half a foot on every side of the zone
To only one pitcher, for the most part.
The ump has been calling a wide zone, but not consistently.
Happy for Frelick. What a night for the kid.
Time to get the pen stirring
Mr. Reliable, Michael Tonkin. All in all, pretty good for Winans.
Nice job by Winans. Also nice job by Snitker to bring the hook before letting Yelich see him for the 3rd time when they were starting to hit him better.
Would imagine that Heller and especially Kali 2 are down tonight, so Tonkin needs to get us through the 7th.
Congrats to Winans. He earned his lifetime health insurance.
Damn, Sal Frelick.
Well, crap. Magical night for the kid – pretty good night for our kid, too – but now the Braves have to string a couple hits together. Felt like they just were not picking up Houser’s movement, other than Riley’s big swing. Would love to see a better result this inning.
Take the out, stupid.
Yeah, no kidding.
Do we have any updates on Chavez, Minter, Lee or Anderson yet?
Minter will be ready when his IL stint ends per Bowman. The other 2 apparently still aren’t ready. And I wouldn’t count on Anderson coming back.
Run, Forrest!!!
Recapped.
