The Braves look to take game two of this three-game set with the Serpents on Striderday, sending Cy Young candidate Spencer Strider to the mound against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Strider is 5-2 with a 2.97 ERA. He also leads the world in K’s with 106 entering the contest. The Serpents throw righty Ryne Nelson, who is 2-2 with a 5.37 ERA and 1.44 WHIP.
The match-up should favor the Braves, but we also know how the good guys have done against RHP this season. Who do y’all think will click tonight? Who are your keys for victory?
For me, Eddie needs to treat Nelson like he pitches for the Dodgers, kinda like he did Merrill Kelly last night, ripping two homers to provide the Braves offense. The Braves also need Marcell Ozone and Michael Harris II to get going in this one. First pitch is set for 10:10 ET/9:10 CT
These Diamondbacks hitters are pretty pesky. Lots of foul balls there in the 1st inning. Hope that Strider doesn’t have to labor too much more as the game progresses.
I’d like to see Harris not swing at any first pitches for a while.
Edit: Just take one freaking pitch, dude. Swinging at everything isn’t helping.
Rosario thinks we’re playing the Dodgers.
Harris can’t buy a break at the plate.
Right, 104 off the bat, double play!
Acuna bombs are the best bombs.
PS: I’m noticing that I can’t post at all from mobile. I don’t know if that’s a problem for everyone, but that might explain at least some of the quiet time we see here?
That’s concerning. I’ll send over to Matt. I can post on mobile. What’s the issue when you try?
Snitker using Chavez in the Matzek late 2021 shutdown-needed role says all that is necessary about this crap ‘pen.
I’ll take Chavez any day if he keeps pitching like he has lately. Don’t look now, but if Harris can right the ship, our entire lineup could have an OPS over 750. Considering where Ozuna and Rosario were, that’s pretty impressive
