Tonight, it’s cheese versus cheese, the Dúnedan facing one of the Riders of Rohan.
(I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but “Eovaldi” sounds quite a bit like the name of a character who rode alongside Éomer and Éowyn, perishing in the Battle of Helm’s Deep.)
Anyway.
Since he first got called up by the Dodgers in 2011, in Nathan Eovaldi has had some of the best mustard in baseball, though he hasn’t always used it effectively. He was pretty good with the Marlins but then he went to New York and pitched decently for one year, then struggled mightily the next. When he got to Boston, he was replacement-level, then he was one of the best pitchers in baseball in 2021, regressed last year, and has resumed as one of baseball’s best this year. He’s had two Tommy John surgeries, has pitched for six teams already, and I honestly don’t know what to make of the back of his baseball card. But he’s got a hell of a fastball.
Don’t think I gotta tell you about the kind of fastball our guy’s got.
Of course, our guy has a good case for both the best quads and the best cheddar in the league. Even though he’s a Phillies fan, Michael Baumann of Fangraphs couldn’t be more excited for tonight’s matchup, and neither could I.
Rubber match, y’all. Let’s get it.
Anybody watching?
I have felt that way a lot with the lack of in game chatter on here anymore. Sometimes it feels like we are talking to ourselves in here. That being said, this team is utterly useless right now.
Love the throw from Harris. No telling how many future runs that will save when word gets out (again) not to try him.
I watch or listen. Y’all are doing just fine without my wisdom.
I’m here… been editing my piece on closers for tomorrow. This game has been pretty good, really. If the Braves don’t score here, do you send Anderson back out for the bottom of the 9th? (I do.) In fact, I’d probably send him out again even if the Braves do score here.
[Edit] Arcia! Now we can see if Snit has to show faith in Iglesias,
[Edit2] He did.
[Edit3] And it worked.
We have our moments.
Dammit Brandon, you woke me up.
Gaudin is usually pretty good at not overreacting to deep fly balls, but it seems like he thinks every fly ball Acuna hits is a homerun
I know he has missed several games, and I don’t expect him to continue at this pace, but if he does, Arcia could battle Acuna for league MVP.
Unexpected yet very satisfying.
Helluva great win tonight.
Well, I’ll be damned. When I went to sleep, I was not expecting to see the headline I saw this morning. Hot dog, that’s a great feeling.
There’s a recap up, though it looks like comments are not enabled.
