When you’re going up against the son of God, you better come prepared to ask forgiveness after 9. However, before we get to the matchup, we need to take a look at how Dylan Dodd got to be an MLB player again.
The writing was on the wall after Kyle Wright showed the world his angry face, which, in turn, could’ve just been his hurt face. 2 innings in, he was out and the diagnosis is shoulder inflammation. This should not come as a surprise to any Braves fan that has frequented this bar since spring training as Wright had a cortisone shot for shoulder inflammation prior to the season. My guess is he’s out for a month, at the least, and that is a blow for this team. Braves beatwriter Justin Toscano gives us an update, which is pretty vague so take it for what it’s worth.
Jesus, Not Christ, Jesus Luzardo toes the rubber for the Marlins tonight. He’s carrying a 3.48 ERA through 6 games with an outstanding 10.2 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9. The Braves have their work cut out for them… and so does Jesus.
Since Dylan Dodd was demoted, he’s been plagued with walks, allowing 8 in 14.2 innings. However, he’s also struck out 16. However, when it comes to cusp guys like him being sent down, it’s important to take into consideration that they’re likely working on one flaw and the process, not the results, is what matters.
Dylan Dodd Loves His Braves Lineup
Captain Obvious here, but Michael Harris II is out of the lineup, but not on the IL which is likely good news. If it were more serious, my guess is we’d have had an update by now. Brian Snitker said he’d sit today so sit he shall.
Thanks for reading. If you missed it, check out this piece on a pitcher that could be the next young stud phenom.
I’m kinda over the Marlins series, but really looking forward to playing the Orioles at home this coming week. I had planned to go to a game with my co-worker. He’s a big Orioles fan and, like me, a big fan of The Killers. They are playing this weekend in Atlanta, headlining the Shaky Knees festival. Our plan was so well organized and flawless, then my daughter’s theatrical performance of Winnie the Pooh was changed to…you guessed it… this weekend. I’m excited to see her perform but really bummed to miss both the game and the perfomance.
The Mets are down 2-0 in Detroit with one out in the 9th & Brandon Nimmo on first.
Marte is up with Lindor on deck & Alonso after him.
Nimmo gets thrown out trying to steal second base.
On the next pitch, Marte strikes out & there’s your ballgame.
Thanks, Brandon. I didn’t wanna see Lindor (or Alonso) bat either.
The Real Upside: The Mets (now a .500 team) get swept & we now have chance to go up 6 games on them.
I think Conan had it right. What is best in life? To crush the Mets, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their fans.
Also, good on Dodd for coming up and pitch a quality start in spot start duty. He’s what they used to call a “little lefty” – not much fastball (by today’s standards) and frankly not much else, but somehow he managed to twirl some innings and keep us in the game. Good for the kid.
Soler going deep after Frenchy waxed poetic about the World Series hero’s slump was as predictable as the sunrise.
Watching that home run didn’t even make me mad. It reminded me of Game 6.
I might get banned or ostracized for saying this, but Ozuna seems surprisingly playable this series. Even his unsuccessful AB’s have been competitive.
Honestly, if you are a Braves fan and you want Ozuna gone, the best thing that can happen is not him going 0-40; it’s Ozuna going .270, 25 homers, and 70 rbis at the all-star break. At that point some other team might nibble on a trade. But AA and Liberty aren’t going to dump 38 million, at least not for a while longer. So while I’m no fan of Ozuna’s, I rooting him on: get hot and get tradeable!
That’s sounds about right, Jeff M.
Fingers crossed!
Matt Olson’s real good. I see why we paid him a ton of money.
We have been a beast on the road. If the season follows the usual pattern, we’ll go 3-2 or 2-3 on the upcoming homestand.
