If nothing from nothing leaves nothing, then that might have been yesterday’s Braves score. Nothing. As in this world of integer only outcomes, “not one.” Your winning percentage when scoring “0” is .000. Symmetry in the numbers.
The good side: Uncle Charlie Morton is back close to Big Game Chuck. He can definitely ride the third chair. 6 iP, 5 K, 1 BB, 1 R.A blow from Juan Soto was all it took.
The offense failed to perform against a journeyman pitcher. Somehow, Nick Martinez got through 7 innings giving up no runs. It made me wonder if it was some of that late 90’s stuff of failing to hit call up number 6 or 7 starters while pounding top flight pitching. But, bad baserunning is also a problem. Ronald Acuna starts off with a single, then steals second. Matt Olson strikes out. Austin Riley hits a ground ball to Machado, and Acuna gets caught going to third (first bad play). But, Riley said “hold my beer.” He rounded first too far and was thrown out for out 3. A sign of the struggle for this day.
This was the first time this year that this offense had been shut out. I don’t think it will happen often.

I think the worst part of the game was bases loaded and one out and both Olson and Riley struck out. That signaled to me the game was over.
The bats were dead last night and while I’m not going to go back and look at the last few years of data of game 3 in a series, it sure seems that the Braves lose a lot of those.
Hey crew! I’d love to do a series on “Watching the Braves on the Road”. The idea behind it would be to give parking tips, places to go before the game, best concessions, atmosphere, etc. I’m going to do one on the Rangers new stadium but would love to get viewpoints on all 29 teams. I want to open it to all Braves Journalers and see if we can get someone for every single MLB team.
Huh. I might do Cincy, I live in Ohio and have made the trip several times to watch the Braves.
The wife and I caught a game at Oracle Park in SF. I can write that one up.
Format something like:
Stadium overview
The neighborhood (before and/or after game ideas, restaurants and activities)
Ticketing (prices and availability)
The inside scoop (seating areas, views, access to vending, etc)
Food and beverages
Sound OK?
Even with team’s early success I still think Ozzie needs to move to #2 spot and Olsen move to #5th. Not only breaks up the swing and miss effect in close games we extend our lineup and add more creativity to top of the order.
Huh! I feel you, but I’m worried Olson’s OBP is just so much higher that he’s gotta be up there somewhere
Ozzie’s OBP is way too low for him to hit that high in the order.
Might agree vs RH. Against LH Olson’s on base is 30pts lower than Ozzie and has SO 1 out 2 ab. A little more creativity couldn’t hurt!
Ryan, I like your on the road idea. I don’t live really near any other mlb sites but have traveled to see Braves multiple times in Seattle, San Diego and Phoenix and am familiar with those areas outside of baseball travel as well. Would be happy to give tips to those fans going to those locations.
Awesome! Just write it up on any platform you can and send it to me via email.
Cliff, I appreciated the Billy Preston reference. What a great talent he was. I was reminded again of that last year when I watched the Peter Jackson Get Back documentary. I thoroughly enjoyed the documentary, but I don’t recommend it to folks unless they are really into the Beatles.
I’m good with Fenway.
Awesome! You can write it up on whatever platform you want to use and send it to me via email.
Off topic, but Liam Hendriks is cancer-free, and that is just wonderful.
