Prediction.
Sometimes the trees fade away and we can see the wood, clearly. Acuna’s emergence has made it more than likely we can impact the post season so who’s next in our wish list, where’s the biggest gap?
Behind the plate. We are talking to the Fish, right now, before we leave. Realmoto. We will be offering Contreras and two young arms, you pick ’em. They’ve been up all night. Make it three. We’ll pick ’em together then we say.
Do it, over an early breakfast.
KC’d!
@1 blazon, I’m game. Did you see OFR’s proposal (Micah Smith)? Allard, Bryse, Jackson, and Flowers. I think that actually sounds reasonable (although it probably means it’s not enough if I think it’s reasonable). Would we up it to Gohara/Anderson, if needed? Realmuto would be an amazing fit. I’d still add another IF bat on top of that.
I’d love to think what this offense could be next year if we had Realmuto behind the plate, Harper in RF, and Riley at 3B. There is every reason to believe we would be as potent as the Yankees or RedSox or Astros.
I wonder how much Soroka will factor into our decisions–like, have the Braves been wait-and-see before doing anything because of his possible return? This would explain scouting Cole Hamels who I still think is flaming garbage in a way Anibal Sanchez never was.
Haha well done.
Well Rob, I made up my mind to do a Miami related musical tribute. I waited for the result to make sure which one. I suppose “Here We Are” could have been a good one. Like “Here we are, tied for first…”
Bowman’s tweet indicates Soroka might be done for the year.
@8 I’m happy for them to play it very safe with him. Wouldn’t mind seeing Fried for a few more than just a spot start.
Even though it was only AA, Fried was quite good last night.
Hey Rob, should we update DOB’s twitter feed on the right to reflect his new twitter handle?
MLBTradeRumors from this morning…
Was New York’s Twitter account intentionally trolling Gary Sanchez after the groundball he didn’t run out cost them the game last night?
@11 Good catch! Would you mind?
There was the ground ball he didn’t run out, but before that he lollygagged over into foul territory on the third-base side to retrieve a passed ball, allowing a run to score.
This just in: The New York Post has nicknamed Sánchez “Gary Maniloaf.”
DeRo touted the Braves as serious suitors for deGrom and Frazier for a boatload of pitching prospects and everybody’s favorite Chipper wanabee.
I’m all for trading prospects but one downer would be to see them go to the Mutts or *shudder* the Nationals.
Joakim Soria would be a good fit for us, no?
coop, who is the Chipper wannabe?? Do people consider Camargo a “Chipper wannabe”? Never thought that… but he is a switch hitting 3B who fans generally support and pull for.
I was afraid you meant Freddie Freeman, who much more closely embodies Chipper’s greatness.
Donny, I wrote that because I’m old and can’t remember the AAA kid and am too lazy to look it up. He’s the Gwinett kid that’s just back from the DL.
lol gonna be lit when we land Harper at the deadline!
coop, the man you speak of is Austin Riley.
Are you sure you aren’t already lit?? I mean, I wish. Trade-and-extend is a fantasy lol
Rob @14, Done.
Thanks, Rob. Riley’s the guy.
Starting the Harper-deadline-deal-to-the-Braves rumor right here, right now. Let’s go. My goal is for the Nationals to have to deny it.
Let’s get Realmuto.
Harper and de Grom. Add Arenado and Iglesias, and we’ll be satsfied. Get it done, AA.
And Realmuto, yeah. That will do.
It is hard to put together a package of prospects for Jake DeGrom that I’d say no to. Jake DeGrom is a franchise cornerstone level starter.
What Sam said.
I would’ve been willing to deal more for deGrom pre-haircut.
And our current 3B will do just fine.
Forget Arenado. JOHAN!
Imagine the visceral impact of reading Harper-to-the-Braves deadline rumors if you’re a Nats fan. The sheer embarrassment of even the slightest hint of being a seller to your rival.
What reporter is shameless enough to report an unfounded rumor like this if fed properly? Is there a baseball personality who maybe has an axe to grind, re: the Nationals? Hmmmmmm.
How’s this, Adam R.? https://twitter.com/NotFinnishStu/status/1021799544462426113
LOL. I was going to make a gmail, like, j1m_duquette@gmail.com and see if he’d bite. But that’ll do fine!
Everybody, please like and retweet Stu.
FFS, Ender.
Bravo Stu.
Stick a fork in Bad Julio.
Well done, Stu.
I bet if the Braves stopped swinging, this guy would walk in 8 runs.
Huh. The Marlins are starting a 26 year old Lord Voldermort at short today.
Ender currently sitting at a 666 OPS.
Lord Voldermort, 666: where are you headed with this, Sam?
I’m simply reporting the facts buddy.
Cloberson has the Braves back within 1.
Maybe we can get a little Faux Cloberson action going next inning.
Julio doing his best to restore the Marlins’ lead.
This is one of those “they’re doing every little thing wrong” games.
Great throw, Dansby.
Of course the play on the field was upheld. The Braves were challenging it.
If someone else was challenging it against the Braves, of course it would have been overturned.
I hope Julio beans the pitcher on his next pitch.
I don’t care that the guy is not up to bat. I don’t care that he is in the dugout.
Good day
Julio should have never started the inning. He was lucky to get out of the 4th. Like the guy but what was Snit thinking.
Julio should pitch the home run derby. His ability to be great and terrible is unreal. I have not been a Julio fan for quite some time but he is the one that needs to go the way of McCarthy
When do Harper and de Grom arrive?
Why is Flowers hitting 5th ?????
Posts from Donny, Insect Overlords, AND Tad in the last 20 minutes. The game must be going poorly.
I post during day games, not just when the Braves happen to not be winning.
I’m done with Julio. Most frustrating pitcher ever. DFA please.
Swansby Danson is not replicating Cloberson so far.
I think I will stop looking in on this game in the hopes that the bats will activate.
I don’t think Donny is in that group. Not at all.
Gary Maniloaf is such a great tabloid nickname that it angers me. I wish I could once in my life come up with something that good.
I was so used to writing weekday day game recaps that I starting writing one here before I realized it was Tuesday. I won’t post it, but my best line was “You guys are all way better about trade speculation than I am, but for this game, I’d have been happier with a JT-JT trade, even one that reversed tomorrow.”
No, go ahead Jonathan. You may have my recap day.
Flowers is officially a pumpkin
Thanks Rob. I may get a little manic depressive sometimes, but I’m not one to show up only to gripe/complain or proclaim doom.
Re: Julio Teheran, I’m still convinced he’s a valuable starting pitcher. As like a 4th or 5th starter.
You know, I bet Anibal forgot to tell Julio they’re not at Sun Trust Park today. I bet that’s it.
@lol good point re: Anibal
Sam: your generosity is touching. (You don’t hear that often around here.) Take tomorrow.
Recapped
Touki needs to be a bullpen reinforcement, now. He is going to innings limit soon, anyway. Ride him every couple of days for an inning or every 3 days for 2 innings all of the way into October.
