    Sometimes the trees fade away and we can see the wood, clearly. Acuna’s emergence has made it more than likely we can impact the post season so who’s next in our wish list, where’s the biggest gap?

    Behind the plate. We are talking to the Fish, right now, before we leave. Realmoto. We will be offering Contreras and two young arms, you pick ’em. They’ve been up all night. Make it three. We’ll pick ’em together then we say.

  3. @1 blazon, I’m game. Did you see OFR’s proposal (Micah Smith)? Allard, Bryse, Jackson, and Flowers. I think that actually sounds reasonable (although it probably means it’s not enough if I think it’s reasonable). Would we up it to Gohara/Anderson, if needed? Realmuto would be an amazing fit. I’d still add another IF bat on top of that.

  4. I’d love to think what this offense could be next year if we had Realmuto behind the plate, Harper in RF, and Riley at 3B. There is every reason to believe we would be as potent as the Yankees or RedSox or Astros.

  5. I wonder how much Soroka will factor into our decisions–like, have the Braves been wait-and-see before doing anything because of his possible return? This would explain scouting Cole Hamels who I still think is flaming garbage in a way Anibal Sanchez never was.

    Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos suggested today that he’s not looking only to make a minor addition or two. Rather, as Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM tweets, the Atlanta executive says his club “can afford to add a starter and reliever and a bat.” And the organization won’t just be considering adding supplemental temporary pieces; rather, per Anthopolous, “we are looking for acquisitions on players we can control rather than rentals.” Needless to say, those comments tend to expand the conceivable array of possibilities for the Braves. With a healthy array of prospects available to deal from, the Braves could certainly make a run at a player who’d be viewed as a major present and future asset.

  29. It is hard to put together a package of prospects for Jake DeGrom that I’d say no to. Jake DeGrom is a franchise cornerstone level starter.

    What reporter is shameless enough to report an unfounded rumor like this if fed properly? Is there a baseball personality who maybe has an axe to grind, re: the Nationals? Hmmmmmm.

  62. I was so used to writing weekday day game recaps that I starting writing one here before I realized it was Tuesday. I won’t post it, but my best line was “You guys are all way better about trade speculation than I am, but for this game, I’d have been happier with a JT-JT trade, even one that reversed tomorrow.”

  69. Touki needs to be a bullpen reinforcement, now. He is going to innings limit soon, anyway. Ride him every couple of days for an inning or every 3 days for 2 innings all of the way into October.
