Ah, yes, the trip to the west coast. I suppose that when you’re in college, this isn’t such a problem, but I am old now and need my sleep. I’ll be able to recap this game because I’m working tonight.

Maybe Fredi felt he owed something to the fans after the debacle last night. Or maybe that was his plan all along.. to manage the game into the ground after winning the series just so he could “make up for it” by moving Heyward to second. Maybe he’s actually a genius and not a moron.
In any case, the new lineup is much better than the old one, though once Uggla gets going I think he and McCann could be flipped to break up the string of LHH 2-4 and give Uggla better protection. It works tonight given that Lilly hasn’t been good against LHH so far this season, but in late games it just invites a LOOGY. Even with Chipper being a switch hitter it’s worth it to turn him around to his right side.
Still, short of batting Chipper leadoff, it’s probably one of the best lineups that Fredi could draw up.

on April 18, 2011 at 5:26 pm
It only took him 16 games to figure out that more Heyward and less McOut are both good things. That doesn’t bode well. How long will it take to cure him of the ill-timed sac bunt stuff?
It’s good thing that he changed a lineup that wasn’t working.

That Beach Boys video was the absolute lamest lip synching I have ever seen.
And, I’m willing to give Fredi a pass, as it didn’t take him until Memorial Day to move Heyward. -1 for thinking it was a good idea to start with, +2 for switching this soon.

To be fair, 16 games isn’t a crazy amount of time for a manager to stick to his guns on a lineup decision. It was a stupid decision to begin with, but we’ve all seen much worse than 2 weeks of Louth in the 2-hole.

Todays fun fact:
The Braves are one of four teams without a pinch hit this year. The Angels are 0 for 2, White Sox are 0 for 4 and the Royals are 0 for 1.
Without cheating, who can guess the Braves pinch hit stats? (i.e. We’re 0 for X, guess for X).

I’ll agree with ububba about the west coast games. I love them, but I’m probably one of the few that wishes the Braves were still in the NL West.

@17 – Isn’t it 23 or something ridiculous like that?
I’m with ububba though – west coast trips are awesome. When I was a kid I’d pretend to be asleep and then turn on the radio broadcast and listen til I dozed off. I swear I remember Skip on those mid-90s radio broadcasts, but he was consistently doing TBS right? Anyone know who did the radio job in the mid-90s? The nostalgic side of me needs to know.
Anyway, these days I can have a somewhat functional adult evening and then just sacrifice some sleep to see the whole game. Plus I get to substitute Vin Scully for Chip with GameDay Audio.

You remember right. In the mid 90’s it was Skip, Pete, Don, and Joe. I forget the exact way they paired up, but each would do 4.5 innings on the radio and then switch for 4.5 on TBS.

Hey Hudson, stop sucking please. These Dodgers hitters, aside from Kemp, are pretty awful.
This is basically how Huddy looked early last year, minus the luck.
I blame that stupid beard he tried to grow last year. I don’t think he’s been the same since..
Having to IBB Barajas, hitting sub .200, in the 1st to get to the pitcher = not good
@49 THANK YOU! The beard was clearly the beginning of the end.
“Fredi is stoned again” is the new “Bobby is drunk again”.
3 Runs at Dodger Stadium and our lineup–pretty big mountain to climb….
33 pitches through one. Screw it, I’m just gonna root for Vin Scully.
Vin Scully can throw better than McLouth.
We suck so hard right now.
#55 – those were two of the weakest throws Ive seen in a while
Didn’t realize Dan was 0 for the year against LHP. Well, that’s kind of defeating the purpose of the RH power bat.
I just realized why I don’t like Lilly. He kind of looks like Urban Meyer.
Or not.
At least Milwaukee’s up 4-3 now.
Good AB by mclouth but typical result. There’s no real pop in his bat anymore.
Nate is scared of being successful at the plate.
Why didn’t Mattingly walk Nate to get to the pitcher?
What’s the difference?
Why didn’t mattingly name his kid Leon? Because he didn’t want to, that’s why.
‘Pete Orr’ is a trending topic on Twitter.
We’re due for a solo HR.
I’m making a rule for myself. If we don’t score this inning, I’m going to bed.
Four-pitch walk to Alex Gonzalez to get to the pitcher.

Glad I could finally find success somewhere. Ugh. Time to change the moniker.
