Hi everyone, it’s me, your old friend Keith Lockhart! Since the Braves are stuck with so many Lockhart clones these days (you know, guys who are older, below average and paid too much), Matt Tomlinson thought he would ask the “original†mediocre Brave to come on and write the Game Thread!
I just wanted everyone to know I am doing OK, I know everyone misses me a whole lot, but I have started a beauty salon in upstate New York and I am loving life! I am not going to lie though, I miss being a Brave and anytime Bobby is ready for me to suit up in place of Marcus, I am good to go!
I always thought that maybe you had some revealing pictures of Bobby Cox…as that would be the only reason you would EVER play at all. Shame on you for sharing those pictures with reitsma, laroche, sosa, and pratt!
Keith,
Who has the pictures now and are their multiple copies? I figure both Shitsma
and Jordan must have copies.
Well, there were some pictures of Bobby and his pet goat on his farm. that may have explained all my years in Atlanta. And yes, MAYBE, just MAYBE I lent those pictures to Reitsma.
But I neither can confirm or deny this.
Keith,
By allowing you on the team, years ago, it has opened the floodgates for years of miserably, mediocre players to follow suit.
Gee…thanks.
Keith,
I play with myself a lot and dress up at sicence fiction conventions. Plus, I have a small wee wee. Maybe we could hang out and watch Mets games together? I love you man.
NYMETS/DAN KOLB
“Speaking of the Braves, it’s not out of the question that they eventually will give right-hander Jorge Sosa a chance to close. Right-hander Ken Ray, a career journeyman, is the team’s de facto closer, but the impressive return of left-handed starter Horacio Ramirez increases manager Bobby Cox’s options. Lefty Chuck James is set to join right-hander Lance Cormier as a potential starter at Class AAA. Sosa’s previous teams, the Devil Rays and A’s, envisioned him as a closer.”
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5678866
Where is Chuck James?
Also, will Brian McCann be back tonight? Does anyone know?
TBS said he wouldn’t.
Matt Tomlinson? I thought it was Mark Timmonsen!
You can never be truly replaced, Gilderoy.
There are multiple copies, I’m sure. Orr might have given his back, but he’s not sure how much time his HR buys him.
As for Faux Sports, what is their deal with trying to make the Braves’ worst pitchers the closer? First Villareal, now Sosa. Will their next article ask us to bring back Reitsma? (If he’s gone… we have used a closer so rarely of late that I don’t know if he is or not.)
One of the greatest lesser-known songs of the ’90s was Nirvana’s “I Hate Myself and Want to Die.” I propose that as the at-bat theme song for EVERY SINGLE DAMNED MEMBER OF THE BRAVES.
Well, I’m really hoping we turn it around tonight. But since we’re facing a guy we’ve never seen before, he may very well no-hit us.
Cormier is starting in the minors. . . . and pitching pretty well . . .
What’s that about? Do you think he’s just filling the negetive space left by Travis Smith and Anthony Lerew? Or Is that an indication the Braves may be about to trade Thomson and move Sosa to the pen? Did Cormier start anywhere else? Could he possibly be in the Braves rotation? He couldn’t hack it for an inning at a time.
lol…. I find that post from nymets funny. Are you a little upset the mets are in first or something? Or is it due to someone actually telling you the truth on your team in a respectful way might I add. It would be very ez to trash talk the braves given the state they are in but there is no reason for it. You getting this upset and having to post under my name completely satisfies me.
Cheers
Dan
Dear Danny Kolb,
Good luck to you with the Brewers, you piece of shit. I hope you enjoy yet another relaxing October while the Braves, through some miracle, manage to make the playoffs only to lose in the first round.
Dear Danny Kolb/ NY MEtS,
1986 Dill Weed
Next year the Knicks will win more games than you.
Lots of baseball to go.
Cheers!

“danny, trade and rebuild? who do you think we are, the mets? trade and fill gaps, but the braves dont rebuild because they dont have to.”
Oh no, not the braves. Only every other baseball team that ever played has to rebuild……Dumb ass It has nothing to do with being like the mets. Yes it is true the mets have been rebuilding the past 2 years and now its paying off.
Josh Q:
“You dont want over priced fill gaps for your team. It will only be short term and in a few years your team will be even worse off.”
-Danny Kolb aka NYMETS
“Isn’t that exactly what NY has been doing? I couldn’t agree more with not getting over priced stop gaps. I think we’ll make moves, but not at the expense of future years. “–Josh Q
No the mets have stopped doing ” stop gaps that are short term.” now for 2 years. We learned from the Kazmier deal. Thats why Milledge, wright, reyes Pelfrey , Banister, hielman, and others will/have come up through our far system and thrive at shea and stay there. How much home grown talent do we need? I think that is plenty .And because of that young talent we can spend some money…..just as i told you the braves could do.
I have seen this all before, thats why i said you should go into rebuilding mode. You can be mad and deny the facts. That your team is closer to rebuilding and getting an early first round draft pick, then a world series ring . But I think you two know better. Im just telling you the truth. Just as i have since spring training.
Cheers
wow. ” piece of shit” thats a little strong huh Rob? Got anything else to say that makes you a bad ass behind a computer? We will do well against the brewers, thanks for the good luck.
smitty:
“The knicks will win more games then the mets”……… i wont even say anything about that, as it really does not make sense since the mets are going to win the division or at least the wild card.
Mets traded Kaz Matsui to the Rockies for Eli Marrero. Because they really need another OF/1B/C?
You know how there’s always a party bore at every party? That one guy who won’t shut up even though no one cares what he has to say. And of course they are always oblivious to the fact that they are not interesting, at all.

The anvil on the pavement:
10 ml lemon juice
20 ml tomato juice
720 ml gin
Pour and stir, gentlemen.
Danny,
Nobody wants you on this board. I know you want to take the chance to backhandedly gloat about the Mets while the Braves are down, but please don’t. Why troll and annoy people?
what kind of person likes to go and post blogs in a place where noone wants him there? i really dont get it.
McCann is in the starting line-up.
time to celebrate a win boys. mccann’s back
Yeah but can McCann cancel out Jorge Sosa?
Here is Nieve’s chance to look like an all-star.
Please win, Braves.
Brian McCann can cancel out world hunger and cure depression.
Too bad we can’t trade another Nieves for a new Crime Dog…
I just realized what this slump feels like. the playoffs.
I like what I see from Chipper today and yesterday.
ANDRUW!
ANDRUW!!!!!
LaRoche batting fifth over McCann again? Temporary of not?
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON
SHOT
Anyone know who was sent down? I assume Pena, which is a shame because he’s been one of our better players the last couple weeks — not that that’s any great accomplishment.
I got the Houston feed. Man, are these guys awful.
“Andruw swings and hits a fly ball, It’ll be 2-0 Braves.”
It’s Bobby managing, it will take another month of 0-100 from Adam before Bobby moving McCann back to the fifth spot.
What is everybody’s opinion with having the roof closed when it is 73 degrees outside with no threat of rain? That is not what a retractable roof stadium is inteneded for.
Mac, in my dream the Braves would put Pratt on DL.
That was a NICE shot. Let’s keep it up…Sosa, don’t give the runs back in the Bottom of the 1st!!!
BTW, I really want you guys to know that it’s great to be here again…I need Braves fans to talk to, to lean on. As we all do.
Well, that’s HALF the lead.
You have GOT to be kidding.
Of course, it’s Sosa.
What a stupid ballpark.
Tied.
CRAP!
Oh lord.
Sigh, of course.
Pretty cool to hit them to opposite fields I must say.
No need to fix the offense, just fix the pitching and defense.
WHAT!!!!
Man, I turn the channel and it’s 2-2….
Which is why I just gauge the game from here. It lessens the impact of sheer failure 🙂
And I mean that in a good way.
Bobby Cox, collect call from a Mr. James in Richmond.
Well, that’s one inning in the books. Let’s hope Sosa settles down.
His 1-7 record says otherwise.
Holy crap. What happened to Francoeur? I blinked and he was struck out.
Alright, McCann’s back……YES!!!!!!!
Yeah Dan, that tends to happen very often to me as well.
McCann’s back in the line-up after leaving to film Superman
It just hit me this morning looking at the Braves’ stats. According to his stats, Marcus Giles is Adam LaRoche, minus the homers!
Sosa needs to stuff more shit in his mouth.
Charlie..you just made my night
His decision making is not always the best, but I do think Marcus is an above average second baseman defensively.
Is that a pitchout?
Let me float this one out there- Sosa has the most raw talent of any pitcher on the braves squad. He should start beaning people.
Boy, McCann is a hitting machine! but he is at Estrada speed right now…
Perhaps I’m crazy, but what’s the point of playing small-ball if you can’t hold onto a lead?
McCann could come to my house and ask me to drop kick my mother..and I would
langer’s bat is just killin’ us right now.
I guess if you’re bunting to avoid the DB, then it’s understandable…
sorry: DP
Maybe Andruw should just sit curveball? His biggest homeruns seem to come when he is obviously waiting on it.
Those were some strikes.
That first base umpire must have some money on the Astros.
I’d agree with that assessment….oh well. Buckle down, Sosa.
So when does Sosa leave the rotation?
When, Bobby?
Well, at least it wasn’t a grand slam.
I’ll give them one run to get out of this horrible inning.
COME ON JORGE. HOLD ‘EM.
I actually like Sosa. He’s fun to watch. I sweat a lot sometimes so I feel like I share a bond w/ him though. All jokes aside I do like him.
Joey, to give you a reference, it usually takes Bobby three weeks to make a decision…
Predictable.
………………………………………………………………………
Eeeesh. It might as well been a grand slam. Game’s over. Hope you have a good night, folks, I’m outta here *drives off*
Maybe he gets too sweaty to hold the ball. Its possible?
Does Sosa just stay up at night, thinking of new ways to fail?
I miss the mid-90s. Take care everyone…
Too little, too late Bobby.
I’d blame this on Giles, but it’s not like Sosa was fooling anyone. He could have picked him up with 2 outs… instead, it’s like a broken record.
And to think, the Astros would have scored NOTHING if Giles gets that guy out.
I don’t think you can knock Bobby b/c our pen sucks too.
Well, at least this is another shot of reality to JS and Bobby.
So……will James FINALLY get Sosa’s spot or is Cox not convinced?
Well, good night folks….
Can we trade our entire farm system for Jonathan Papelbon? Yeah, we might regret it in a few years, slightly, when we had no players, but it would solve our starting AND closing problem for the next 15 years. Well, maybe not, but I’m fishing for something here. This sucks.
we might as well change our name to the royals.
make it stop…
kc, how many shots of reality have we taken in the last couple of weeks?
As the risk of offending the conservatives here, Bobby Cox has turned into Donald Rumsfeld- we’re not changing the plan because we’re not changing the plan, even if it isn’t working.
This is great–a few weeks ago I would have been happy to learn that Washington is leading the Phillies; at this point we will soon be tied for 4th place!
I plan on watching the World Cup for the next few days. My heart can’t take much more punishment.
If we can somehow turn this game around, it will be a big turning point for us.
But I don’t think we can do that. This is the year I’ve been dreading since 2004.
Fan of any particular team, Remy?
Atlanta Braves: Soon to be tied for fourth.
(At least the Phillies are losing too.)
I’m not sure. I’d pull for Peru if they were in it, but they haven’t made an appearance in years. Some dark horse team, probably. I just look forward to seeing some exciting, imaginative play. Unfortunately, the match between Poland and Ecuador was boring. I’ll be up tomorrow morning to watch England vs. Paraguay.
What about you, Brian?
I can only hope Huddy and HoRam bring their A-game in the next two games…
Brain, it takes too many shots of reality to get the two old men to think about making changes.
Mets are leading 3-0
…..
Atleast I have the World Cup… and Miami Dolphins training camp…
Maybe after the World Cup Rooney will be available for our bullpen…
AND they have to bring up the playoff game from last year. Great.
The Phillies have picked up a run so we have a chance to stay in 3rd!
Maybe the Braves should grow their hair long. It worked a couple of years ago for the Red Sox.
It is great that the World Cup is on…and the NBA and NHL Finals….and College World Series.
It will take ALL of that to alleviate the pain the Braves are causing right now.
BTW, go Team USA.
Yeah, Stephen, Rooney’s foot should be fully healed by then.
BTW, anybody here lives in LA?
“The Phillies have picked up a run so we have a chance to stay in 3rd!”
WOW! Now we’re ONLY 4.5 games behind the Phillies for second.
Who-hoo!
That’s it, can’t it any more. Shitma, Sosucks, LaDouche, the rest of the bullpen, whoever — they SUCK! Just looked at the Richmond Braves site to see who is down there. Can’t be any worse than these bozos we trot out every game to give it away. Need to get Chuck back up as soon as possible. Kevin Barry, Phil Stockman and Wayne Franklin all look like they couldn’t do any worse. Why not clean house give them a try! At least I’d be energized. I think I have to stop watching until the 4th of July or until someone says, “Nice run the Braves are having, huh?” — I have a feeling which one will come first!
Since I live in Curacao..and we’re a part of Holland..my other passion besided the Braves and Dolphins is the Dutch National Soccer Team.
But..they are the equivalent of the Braves in the soccer world. Always close..but no cigar. Always lacking the mentality to win the big game. Atleast the Braves have 1 championship during this run. Holland has never become world champs. They’ve lost 2 times in the finals..and other times in the semi’s.
So yeah..the world cup will probably cause me as much pain as the Braves are right now.. 🙁
The Phillies are losing 6-3
Mets winning 4-0
Built to Win. Psh.
And our interleague schedule is going to DESTROY us….I just realized we play the Red Sox, Yankees, AND Blue Jays this year.
That could be the knockout blow.
Anybody else see the article that said Reitsma’s been tipping his pitches? He and McDowell found something looking at tapes this afternoon, and he’s going to try to correct it. Hopefully it works, because if we’re stuck with this bullpen for awhile, we need something.
Pena was optioned back to Richmond. I wonder what a guy has to do to stick around the big leagues…
It doesn’t matter that Reitsma is tipping his pitches, he just sucks.
Mac, is it Belliard’s turn tomorrow night?
I think we need a bigger gun than Belliard.
Marcus sucks so much this year. TRADE HIM.
Nothing quite like coming in from a good dinner to see your team down 7-2. Guess I better wash that down with a Becks. Nnngggg…
Crap….that was shaping up to be a rally.
Beck’s? Oh, ububba, I expected you to have good taste in beer.
Maybe you should start having guys who beat the Braves while not on the team. Like maybe Jim Leyritz sould take a turn and come gloat. Or Schilling and Johnson could do a joint entry, or Prior and Wood.
I’m not fear for the 4th that means the Braves can get an opportunity to renovate.
I’ve really missed Brian McCann.
^Or Kent Hrbek. Or Livan. Or Ausmus. Or Beltran. Or Kevin Brown.
Etc, etc…
Reitsma will always suck–and Marcus needs to go, while we can get something for him. It will be addition by subtraction anyway!
I think tomorrow’s game is at 4:00 P.M.
Mac, just write the re-cap now, it’s over.
Langerhans is giving us nothing…
ouch
Down five runs, in the ninth, with two outs and nobody one and with A. LaRoche batting.
I BEEEEELIEEEEEEEVE!
Marcus doesn’t need to go anywhere but out of the leadoff spot. It doesn’t matter what anyone says, HE’S NOT A LEADOFF HITTER AND YOU CAN’T MAKE HIM ONE! Put Edgar as leadoff and Marcus in the 2nd spot and I guarantee you will see some fireworks.
Washington is now up 4 runs on the Phillies and we will soon be tied for 4th!
Let’s face it….
Braves smell.
I am so sicked of all these strikeouts.
Moving Marcus out of the leadoff spot would not save us from his lousy defense….
why the hell do the braves let sosa even pitch? Is their no one else who can pitch from your minor leagues? I mean they cant be any worse right?
tied for 4th at least it aint last
I’m just wondering…are there any Braves fans that go to Mets blogs..and either talk crap..or state the obvious like certain people do here??
I mean..just follow your own stupid team. They’re in first..enjoy it..
Let us whallow in self-pitty alone.
at least we have brian mcann
Stu,
My pref is Guinness, but I got Becks in the house.
