The Mets restructured Tom Glavine’s contract. He was making $10.5 million this season, with $5.25 million deferred at 6% interest. Now, his 2006 salary is cut to $7.5 million, with $5.25 million still deferred at 6%. In exchange for that, he gets a 2007 player option at $5.5 million and $12 million team option. The player option will be increased by $1 million each for 180, 190 and 200 IP, the team option increases by $2 million for 180 IP and both of them have a $3 million buyout.
If there were any out there who thought he may finish up in ATL, well that doesn’t look very likely now.

I don’t know; I think it makes some sense to put Jordan in left just because he’s still an excellent defensive outfielder. His glovework at first is pretty bad, otoh. Langer might need a day or two off to get himself back together; I think he ought to hit lower in the order. He was on fire till he got bumped up.
LaRoche has been really bad this year, but it’s strange; his SLG is actually alright. He’s hitting balls hard when he hits them, he’s just K-ing at an obscene rate. I’m not sure what to make of that, given that he is getting the XBH: he’s projected for 47 2B and 26 homers, which is honestly pretty good. It’s just that he’s projected for 26 singles as well.

Phillies 1 Mets 0 2nd inning
Pedro has been terrible so far.
Walked two in the first.
Runners at the corners with none out right now.
Phillies 3 Mets 0
🙂
Lemke does the radio pre-game… The only other Brave of the era in broadcasting (as far as I know) is Justice, but I’m pretty sure he’s getting paid a lot more by the Yankees than Fox would shell out.
Oh, didn’t realize they are playing again…please score some runs…
yup… I just realized that too!
what’s our game looking like, my cable has gone out.
Gotta love this offense.
marcus reached on an error
then renty struck out
going to the bottom of third
If we don’t score next inning, it’s likely that I’ll become despondent.
Hanley Ramirez grounds out
1 down
Even though Brian Moehler could not get out of Braves AA a couple of years ago, we are now threatening to make him look good….
I hope dropping down in the batting order will be the warning which Adam needs to get going. This year will probably be his last season to prove himself. Considering this offseason will be Adam’s first crack on arbitration and Thorman playing well at Richmond, the Braves will not hand Adam the $2+M he will be getting as a fourth year player if Adam shows no sign of improvement.
Dan Uggla flies out to left
2 down
I wonder why the Braves still bother to pitch to Cabrera.
Cabrera flies out to center
3 down
our civil defense horns are going off
I’m gonna sign off… I’ll be back hopefully soon
McCann’s flourishing in the 5-spot.
McCann is batting like Adam in the last at-bat. Maybe it is the fifth hole in the batting order which we should blame…
Thomson is giving Andruw great exercise tonight.
yea… I was worried that it might have been better just to leave him where he was since he was doing so well… it might’ve jinxed him by moving him up!
Well, I don’t blame Bobby on moving McCann, but I am not a fan of moving Edgar to lead off though.
yea, it’s one of those things where they have their reasons for the way they have the lineup made up
sometimes it’s good to have good, productive hitters scattered
Francoeur singles…
c’mon guys!
DOB has an explanation on Torborg’s absent:
“Torborg…is on vacation in Greece with wife. They had it planned long before the TV gig expanded to include so many games. Back in two weeks, I think.”
It’s all the fifth spot’s fault.
Ahh, but LaRoche is flourishing in the 7-spot!
LaRoche!!!
jordan for mayor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
BJ!!!!!!!!!1 My goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Jordan seems to like the 8-spot!
Brian Jordan for President. There’s your run support, John; make it stand.
Jordan = MY HERO!!!!
the 5 spot must be jinxed! ha
JORDAN!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!
3-run homer!!!
Jordan is actually swinging the bat pretty well this season. Good to see.
Giles still sucks right now!!
kc, looks like you and i need to hold our shift key down a little longer on our multiple exclamations.
yeah not a huge fant of ron gant. Justice seemed okay on the 2 or 3 yankee’s broadcasts I heard, though aparently yankee fans hate him.
Haha, yeah, Ryan, I was shocked.
Hey, I said walk Cabrera, not the other guys!
Now THIS looks like the Brian Moehler that sucked so bad he had to leave detroit
FRENCHY!!!
JEFFREY just WALKED!!!
Francoeur!!
Now his OBS will jump through the roof.
Adam really likes that seventh hole.
woo hoo frenchy finally walked and Rochy drives in 2 wiht a double.
Girardi is a good manager, he’s already picked up the Bobby Cox habit of pulling his pitcher after he’s ruined your chances…
woohoo… LaRoche… singles! 5-1 now!
Alright so I forgot that Adam is slower than McCann. It shoulda been a double.
never mind i guess it was a double. I dont know anything anymore…
THOMSON!!!
Please score more runs. I don’t want to see Reitsma closing games ever again.
alright marcus you saw Thomson do it, its not that hard…
gameday had it as a single… lol who knows!?!?
From the sounds of things, there are 15 Braves fans, 5 marlins fans, and 50000 empty seats
And we thought we needed to save runs on sunday. Nothing like Jose Lima and Brian Moehler for sick bats…
I suppose everyone here is still ticked off at Bobby right now for playing LaRoche and keeping Jordan on the team.
If Jurries and Langerhans were planing right now, we would have a chance in this game. Oh wait, never mind?
chipper walks… 8-1 now!
4-2 PHI in the 9th
is anyone else watching mlb.com? the marlins announcer is getting really discouraged with the pitching. he just said, “theres a fastball that missed…well, somewhere.” this guy doesnt seem to be too fond on wellemeyer.
Delgado is freaking scary.
Yeah, too bad the Marlins traded him to a division rival. Makes me so mad.
That whole Mets lineup…Delgado is the only player I worry.
For anyone not following it, Delgado homered off Gordon in the 9th to tie the game at 4.
Runners 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs. Matsui batting.
Alright well BMac finally gets in on the fun. I still think that 5 spot is cursed
ok, McCann is fine with that fifth spot finally!
Matsui struck out, Phils go into bottom of 9th tied at 4.
I love how the Mets keep playing close games which Willie will need to use Sanchez, Heilman, and Wagner for every game.
Phils have bases loaded, 2 outs, bottom of 9th, Abreu up.
That play looked more awkward than a 6th grade dance
Confession:
I want to beat the daylights out of the Marlins but I feel bad for them. Damn they are struggling. I like it better when the Mets are the laughing stock of the east.
Phils won. Heilman threw the ball away on a groundball.
Phillies win, Abreu comes through in the 9th! Heilman gives up the run.
That’s gotta be a crappy way to lose if you’re the Mets….I love it!
Man, I feel so justified in my preseason prediction that Brian Jordan would have more homers than Chipper as of May 9th. I really called that one!
Well the baseball gods gets the Mets back for that Majewski play earlier this year
After a great comeback in the 9th (to tie) the Mets have just lost–on a Heilman error. Now we are making progress…
This joker is HUGE. He could play freakin linebacker.
Might could also play defenseman for the devils and they could get somebody out of the crease 😉 War Damn Canes!
Back to back double digit run games are nice, even if its during Lima time and against the Carolina Mudcats
Ron Gant is actually pretty good with Bob Rathbun. I mean, he’s not noticably bad like Torborg is/was.
I wonder if this is permanent, or just a stopgap with this game in Florida and Torborg the former Marlins’ skipper.
Hey, so my MLB.tv thing ain’t so great right now (I blame Comcast as I do for so many things), so lemme ask, was Francoeur’s walk intentional? If not, does it count since it was against what’s-his-face Marlin pitcher? I guess so. He better get some more.
And how about that LaRoche?!
Francoeur’s walk was unintentional on 4 straight pitches. He also worked it to 3-0 in his next at bat. However, he then struck out, showing that things are as they should be…
Don’t think Paronto is the answer to our bullpen woes. I’m shocked.
Why does Paronto remind me of Gryboski?
I never expected Paronto to be an answer to anything.
Nice. I come back to find us winning 10-1 and the Red Sox killing the Yankees 11-3 and AFraud has 2 errors. All I can say is, “Woot.”
Jenny, I love that AFraud name. That’s the first time I heard it.
The braves radio announcers are openly comparing paronto to grybo, which can’t be a good sign.
I’m going to bed now, but Paronto might be fatter than Kolb.
One of the great things about baseball is the range of guys that can play at every position. I met Tim Hudson over the winter. I’m 2 inches taller and have about 20 pounds on him. Meanwhile a guy like Paronto barely gets through the freakin fish and he could break me in two.
Let’s keep Adam on that seventh hole. Maybe the kid is thinking he has to be another Andruw being in that fifth hole.
The radio announcers just said that bobby’s been thinking of putting mccann at 5 for a long time anyway, but was worried about having a lefty come in in late innings, and having to pinch hit for mccann instead of laroche, if that makes sense.
kc, I usually prefer PayRod, but my friend says AFraud all the time, so I kind of started using it more. GayRod is another popular one, but I try to steer clear of those kinds of labels.
This is from MLB.com:
“Cox moved Brian McCann to fifth in the batting order on Tuesday, dropping slumping first baseman Adam LaRoche to seventh. ‘I’ve been thinking about doing it for three weeks,’ said Cox. ‘Maybe it’ll help both of them.'”
It took three weeks for Bobby to make a freaking decision…why am I shooked…
Well the problem with the pinch hit argument is that BMac doesn’t suck against lefties at the level that Adam LaRoche does.
Jim Presley is the Marlins hitting coach?! That guy is a strikeout machine…
“I’ve been thinking about doing it for three weeks,” said Cox.
Wow. Just wow. This is like me at the mall. But in my case, it doesn’t matter.
Wow, that was a really prescient opinion earlier in this thread about jordan going 1-for with a homer that would keep him in the lineup for another 3 weeks.
Well the problem with the pinch hit argument is that BMac doesn’t suck against lefties at the level that Adam LaRoche does.
I’m just relaying what I half heard on the radio. Didn’t make much sense to me either, whcih is why it was difficult for me to relay it.
Olivo, somehow working a walk. Someone needs to tell braves pitchers that he sucks.
Yeah!!!
I can’t sleep, guess I’ll recap after all.
Mac: Nyquil.
I’m on NyQuil. They’ve done something wimpy to the formulas.
