What the hell.

count it
Wooohooo! Time to put the champagne on ice then.
Pretty meaningless and wishful thinking, no offense. BTW, Sheets got hurt today.
Also BTW, it’s spelled Scioscia. In case you want to win any bar bets.
Terrible projections..
…its obvious the Mets are going to win it all
Y’all did see that the first word of the title is “pointless”, yes?
Wow Philly over NY
I’ll sign for all of the above right now. My only change would be that we play the Yanks in the Series.
People are picking the Mets because they added Wagner and Delgado. But they’re overestimating the value of a closer by a factor of five. As for Delgado, he’s painfully slow, a terrible first baseman, and will be 34 this year. You know who was 34 last year? Jim Thome.
You really think Milwaukee will do that well? I’d like that. It would prove to me that just because you suck for a long time doesn’t mean you always have to suck. Encouraging. I sort of have this idea that teams like KC, Tampa Bay, Cincinnati, will suck until the end of time, because I don’t remember any period of time when they were good (yes, I know KC and Cincinnati used to be good). Be nice to get rid of that perception.
And there are approximately 8000 grammatical errors in that post.
I think Wagner & Delgado are an overall improvement, but I agree that their value is somewhat overrated. It’s 2 positions where the Mets beat out the Braves, but so what?
I do know this: As soon as you put on a Mets uniform, something bad usually happens to you.
I like the Brewers. I almost picked Prince Fielder to win the ROY as well except that having three of four awards for a team not making the playoffs seemed unbalanced. But they have a lot of good young players and a couple of veteran anchors in Sheets and Jenkins to build around. (Sheets’ injury is apparently minor.) Hardy and Weeks may be the Trammell and Whitaker of today. They’re one of the few teams that (by the end of the season) had a starting rotation with no weaknesses.
And I think 80 wins will take second in that division because I don’t think Clemens is going to pitch, and the Cubs are in disarray.
I think it’s very possible the Brewers will crack 80 wins, however. I fully expect them to challenge for the Wild Card up until near the end of the season.
Mac, if I remember right, you didn’t do such a prediction last year. Am I correct?
IM SORRY BUT YOUR WAY OFF.
How are the philly’s going to be ahead of the METs with there line up and lack of a closer. Last time I checked they got our crap looper. and we got the second best closer in the Nl. And same for your braves-you have no pen. you will not Finnish games, trust me I saw fruit loop do it all last season. The METs will be in first place. And how in the hell is Florida going to place ahead of the Nat’s? the marlins are nothing more now then a collection of AAA players. Dontrell can’t pitch every game. Your standings are so out of touch with reality for our division. The best that braves can hope for is a wild card, and you may very well pull it off. In all honesty this division will come down to the METs and Braves no other team really has even got a shot. baring in mind pedro and smolts stay healthy. I also think L.A. will place first in their division. other than that all else looks about right
If the Brewers do that well, then the Kolbus one must be doing something right. Doesn’t add up.
i’m curious about the identity of the lone MET worthy of capitalization. a little help?
There’s a piece about the new Schuerholz book in the AJC. Seems Schuerholz had made a deal for Barry Bonds in 1992, but Pittsburgh backed out at the last minute. Read more here: http://www.ajc.com/news/content/sports/braves/stories/0310braves.html
IM SORRY BUT YOUR WAY OFF.
My way off what?
…and I didn’t know Finland had a team, and if they did, I wouldn’t know how to “Finnish games” anyway. Are they in the WBC?….
Sorry, NYM…you make it fun!
You know who’s also 34 this year? Chipper Jones.
NY, i thought you were going to shut up until games started? maybe you could one step yourself and shut up until games are over, because that’s when you’ll realize that it takes more than individual talent to win. i think we have to get a prediction board going on NY’s age. he just cant be more than 13.
It never gets better than watching the annual bragging of mets fans over their signing a high priced old veteran. I will say this, I dont think its possible for Beltran to do worse than last year. However, if he and delgado combine for 20 HR, I wont be suprised or disapointed.
We didn’t bring in Chipper Jones as an expensive free agent.
Chipper also isn’t a great big slow guy.
I thought NY METS wasn’t going to post until the season started. I wonder if NY METS is related to Dan Kolb?
NY METS, who is playing second for you guys this year? I heard they asked Howard Johnson to come out of retirement and move to second to be their second basemen.
Oh I am sorry, I will translate that last part for you NY METS.
Whose playin 2nd four you guys this year? I heered they asked HOWARd JOHNSon to come out of retirement and mov to 2nd to be there 2nd baseman.
What do you say we take a relaxed attitude toward work and watch the baseball match? The NY METS are my favorite squadron.
NY Mets boy, I am curious to know when has anything that Omar Minaya has done as a GM actually worked for the team he was employed for. Don’t forget you have Clifford “the Big Injured Dog” Floyd in your outfield, which by the way, will probably be the worst fielding outfield in the majors next year, even with Beltran in center. The Mets may have a better pen, its still yet to be determined, but you guys have a bad starting rotation, even before Pedro’s injury concerns.
Will be seeing you again this time next year though waxing all poetic about your new mid to late 30’s year old singings, and we will give you the same beating again and again and again. Its actually quite fun.
I think there’s a little too much mercury in Mr. Met’s drinking water.
Off topic: Fantasy Baseball
would you trade Carlos Delgado for Paul Konerko and Livan Hernandez?
can you drop Livan after the trade?
YES YES YES
I would take that trade in a heartbeat. Look at Mets history of acquiring free agents. The mets are like cancer. Konerko is playing in a comfortable environment with short fences.
As for Livan, does your league count IP?
would you trade Carlos Delgado for Paul Konerko and Livan Hernandez?
Does your league have a category for CG? If so, then yes. If not, it depends – Livan’s durability is only valuable in some leagues. He has a relatively high WHIP and ERA so if you aren’t in a points based league, then no.
Yes we do count IP. These are our stat categories: R, H, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, AVG, IP, W, L, CG, SV, ER, BB, K, ERA, WHIP
Basically its a trade just for Konerko. I already have one extra starting pitcher, but I could make room for Livan maybe.
Right now my starters
Smoltz
Zito
Mulder
Young
Byrd
Glavine
Maybe I could package Livan and another pitcher for something else. Any thoughts?
I would not trade Konerko for Delgado straight up. I think Livan is pretty valuable in that league though, a lot more valuable than Glavine certainly.
who would you want as a starter
byrd or glavine
This year I might go with Byrd, I think he is going to have a good season in Cleveland.
Well it is time for the Vols to tip off
