For now, anyway. These negotiations have a way of falling apart then coming back together. TW doesn’t have to sell the Braves and I don’t expect it anytime soon anyway.

I really can’t complain about AOL/TW. An $80M payroll should be plenty to stay competitive.
Be careful what you wish for. You could have an owner that spends money but that also interferes in running the team because he thinks he knows baseball. At least TW has let JS and BC do their thing. It could always be worse, eg, Peter Angelos.
I wish for an owner that has Ted Turner’s money and Ted Turner’s desire to win circa 1995 and none of Ted Turners desire to help the world or merge with big companies.
Basically, I want an owner that resembles myself, only with enough money to match Turner’s UN donation in player salaries.
I have no problem with Ted Turner’s career path either. I remain eternally grateful for 1995.
But even Ted didn’t spend like the Yankees. They still had budgets; that’s one reason at least that they got rid of Justice. Obviously, they were higher relative to the rest of the league than the current payroll, but it wasn’t like JS could just collect free agents.
