Braves sign Cox for 2005 season

Even if Bobby was thinking about retirement, they wouldn’t have him go into this season a lame duck, especially since the front office has to consider him their biggest advantage over the Phillies.

Notebook: Revamped lineup littered with ‘young pups’

The comparison the AJC likes is that the Marlins’ starting lineup is six months older than the Braves’. (Against righthanders, anyway; Julio makes a big difference.) I’m not particularly surprised, because the Braves have rarely had a lot of really old players, and the Marlins do have a number of veterans. The real difference between the clubs is in pitching, anyway.

Julio will get the first start of the season, facing Glavine Tuesday night.
