Baseball Prospectus – Something for the Holidays

Just a little note here… Clay Davenport has the new BP player cards out, and says that Greg Maddux is “the clear lifetime champion” in pitcher fielding. He’s not sure how useful the stats are in the case of pitchers, because their own pitching tendencies change the stats so much, but it’s interesting to note. If I’m reading it correctly, his defense is worth something like 3-6 runs a year, which is nothing to sneeze at.
