The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year, and Bryce Elder took that literally. He allowed 8 runs in the 2nd inning as the Brewers broke the game open and salvaged a game from the 3-game series. Somehow, Elder stayed in to complete 6 otherwise scoreless innings. If a Quality Start is a minimum of 6 IP and a maximum of 3 ER, then what do you call 6 IP and 8 ER? (Reminder, this is a family site.) Elder’s ERA rose to 3.75, which is probably about where we hoped it would be, but the trend is bad.
William Contreras went 4 – 5, scored 2 runs, had 3 RBIs, and hit his 7th home run of the season for the Brewers. Joey Bart went 0 – 4 with an RBI for the Braves. A 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th by Rowdy Tellez rounded out the game’s scoring. At San Diego Monday at 10 pm Eastern, Grant Holmes and Michael King scheduled.

Thank you, Rusty – how about 6IP and 8ER is a “Quantity Start”?

Ok that’s seriously awesome.
HA! That is great!! Jut saw a Phillies HR
Tellez looks like he belongs in the WWE or the SEC.
Elder’s all-star candidacy has taken a significant hit. Still, if you’re gonna give up runs, doing it all in one game is the way to go.
Let’s take 2 from the Pads!
HSK took another 0fer with multiple strikeouts. Doesn’t look like we are going to recoup any value out of that deal.
