Well, is this it for Travis d’Arnaud? It appears it is, at least for his time in Atlanta:
If this was his Atlanta swan song, it was a great way of going out. With Sean Murphy both injured and struggling, d’Arnaud did his best to resemble an every day catcher, even at the age of 35. After struggling below his career norms in 2023 (.685 OPS), d’Arnaud was able to rebound to a very respectable .238/.302/.436 (.739 OPS) hitting line in 2024. In further proof that good catchers are hard to come by, d’Arnaud was 21st amongst all catchers in fWAR despite playing in only 99 games. Let that also be a reminder to be patient with Sean Murphy.
d’Arnaud has a future in coaching whenever he’s ready. He’s one of the most liked players on the team, very well-respected by the pitching staff, and probably played a bigger role in some of our pitchers producing some of the best years of their career than you think. I’m not sure what TdA will do in the immediate future, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him on a list of managerial candidates for when Brian Snitker decides to hang it up.
Update: Well, Ryan’s wishes did not come true and Little d is now an Angel, but could be a Brave come end of July.

If Travis is back in July that means something has gone wrong with Murphy and/or Baldwin. So I hope that doesn’t happen, though not by any fault of Travis.
Well, there is a risk on NOT bringing back little d. My thought is it is Tromp as backup to start and if “good Tromp” shows up (adequate defense, not terrible offense) they will ride that way. If Baldwin really takes off or “bad Tromp” shows up, they will go to Baldwin.
Will Tromp change his number to 47 now?
No surprise here, and I’m actually here for it: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/braves-rumors-walker-buehler-free-agent.html
I apologize to wrote Rob as he was the one that wrote this piece yet my name was on it. It is fixed now.
Help me with the math.
How is not signing TdA going to help us bolster the pitching staff?
