So I wouldn’t hate picking up JHey instead of having Williams or Duvall on the roster

How many double plays is this team going to hit into this month? Sweet merciful crap.

The Mattt Olson decision isn’t aging well either.
And neither is my comment…lol

lol maybe I need to criticize Pierce Johnson now for walking two in a row.
Just like the Doctor ordered…lol

A bullpen using Pierce Johnson in high-leverage situations does not fill one with any level of confidence.

Wow Iggy…that was an impressive inning. Really good series win

Three excellent baseball games — even the one we lost. Baseball is supposed to be fun, and sometimes it is.

Yep—baseball at its best.
Not great for my blood pressure, but lots of fun.

Spencer Schwellenbach’s development is genuinely amazing. I never imagined he could do anything close to this.

I didn’t know much about him, but after the first time I watched him pitch, I very much expected this. I have just never seen a rookie pitcher command 6 solid pitches. In 35 years of Braves fandom, the most impressive rookie pitchers I have seen have been Kris Medlen and Mike Soroka. They had major league stuff and command from the first start but half the pitches Schwelly has. I’m not sure you really need 6 pitches, but it’s darn impressive, and the potential to use what is working could be a plus.

If that was the wild card round, the Braves would be advancing and the Phillies would be out.
Just sayin’

If we knew at the beginning of the year that Duvall would have over 200 PAs against RHP, we would all agree that something horrible has happened to us. No one wanted this. So his .408 OPS in those PAs shouldn’t be surprising. But he’s hitting LHP at a .879 OPS and playing good defense, so he’s doing what he’s paid to do.
It was AA’s job to get him off the field against RHP when Harris and Acuna went down, and AA couldn’t do that. If LA was just gonna DFA Heyward anyway, why didn’t we get Heyward at the deadline instead of committing to Soler for another year? I still don’t quite get that deal. I look forward to be proven wrong in the playoffs when Soler hits four runs in a playoff series.
In other news, these DPs Gio are turning are gold and aren’t going to show up in people’s evaluations of him.

Can’t we still just pick up Heyward?

Correct, subject to releasing someone else. And, we only pay prorated major league minimum.

I’d love to sign him and bring him back into the organization – I think he’d probably be a great asset to the club as a coach, mentor, cheerleader, and teammate. He always had extremely high baseball IQ. (To pick one of Mac’s favorite examples: over the past six seasons, going back to 2019, he’s 22 for his last 28 steal attempts.)
But if he ever strides into the box, something has gone horribly wrong.

We already have 2 LH hitting outfielders who are hitting below average for the year. Not sure we need another.

Schwellenbach is like a right handed Max Fried except he throws a little harder. Dude can throw pretty much every pitch and command them.

His leadoff walk yesterday to Schwarber was such an outlier with the way his command is. He pitched brilliantly once again though.
