The Braves come into this game at 60-55, 0.5 games behind the Mutts for the last wild card spot and 3rd in the NL East. Max Fried takes the mound against well… no one knows. The Rockies lineup is out, but apparently they’re going with no pitcher and the Braves still won’t be able to hit him.
Transaction A Day AA
Eddie Rosario passed through waivers (not surprised, TBH (and will reside about 30 minutes away from Atlanta where he’ll continue to play baseball with the Gwinnett guys.
Braves Lineup
I sure do hope there’s some magic left in this last month and a half.
Max Fried, you’re up.

Just end the season.
This series, like this season, is a perpetual cruel joke.
Matt, I am so happy for you.
Oh, for the love of all that’s holy. Take this team out behind the barn and put em out of their misery.
And now Matt’s slam means nothing because these guys don’t have a clue how to play a pop-up.
My goodness, this team is first-half-of-2016-level bad.
Snit needs to manage this August game against the Rockies like it’s game 7 of the World Series. You cannot lose this one.
Ozuna!
“Can’t anybody here play this game?”
This umpire is calling some extra strikes this inning that he hasn’t been calling all game.
He’s actually been quite good today up to now, but that strike on Duvall was a horrible call.
THE DREAM IS ALIVE! Jorge!
Aaron Bummer…93 down the middle is just getting hammered.
Aaron Bummer’s continued use in situations that have some level of leverage is a thoroughly unserious choice.
Aaron Bummer exemplifies this team.
Snitker, in fact, is not managing this game like it’s game 7 of the World Series. As I write this, Pierce Johnson is ready in the bullpen and Bummer is facing a right hander. This is coaching malpractice.
Update: the game is tied. Unbelievable.
There are a more than a few players on this year’s edition I never want to see again. Aaron Bummer isn’t atop that list, but it doesn’t take long to call the roll to him.
And Snitker does … nothing.
Okay, maybe we shoulda kept those five guys…
Our bullpen use is an absolute fiasco.
We just seem to lack the attention to detail to be successful. Our pitchers don’t pay attention to runners, we don’t move runners up, play shoddy defense. It is just so bad
Back to plan A: mask all flaws with ridiculous amount of home runs.
This strategy works in the playoffs too.
Sounds good to me.
Let’s see Plan A again tomorrow!!!
Snitker is a good manager in that players like him. That goes a long way. I can’t say he is actually good at anything else. Bobby Cox was also a players’ manager, but he was also a tough disciplinarian and he would not accept loafing and lack of attention to detail. He was a bad in-game decision maker in a pre-analytics age. Snitker is bad in the analytics age which is not forgivable.
Yeah, doesn’t anyone on the bench have a clue about modern data?
You can be players manager AND utilize data.
