After dropping the series opener, the Braves look to Bryce Elder to “throw it again” tonight – or at least the way he did against the Yanks last week. The Braves and Mets play game two of a three game set at 7:20 ET/6:20 CT tonight.
The on again, off again Elder (9-4, 3.46) was really good against the Yanks last week, allowing just one hit to DJ LeMahieu in a shutout of the Bronx Bombers. I want him to throw that again, and not the hanging slider that Pete Alonso blasted and then chirped “Throw it again” about. Of course, at the time, the Mets were only like three games back – so maybe I want Pete to do some more chirping in hopes of another Braves run.
Tylor Megill (7-6, 5.53) is the de factor Mets ace at the moment. Here’s hoping Marcell OHzuna stays hot, and that OHzuna has had a sit-down with Austin Riley and Matt Olson today. You know, like one of the sit-downs he had with Michael Harris II!
Throw it again, Bryce…like you did last time out…and the Braves will emerge victorious.
“Good Elder” for 2 innings, anyway.
When Raisel falls, he does so spectacularly. A closer, he is not.
You do realize he’s converted 16 saves in a row?
And he’s converted like 24 of 26 chances. Nice play by Riley to help him out tonight.
Recap will come in the morning.
A good win, even though we left tons of runners on base. The bullpen did its job tonight to close out the win.
