Atlanta’s injury woes continue. The Braves announced on Thursday that Orlando Arcia underwent an MRI and CT scan that revealed a microfracture in his left wrist. This was sustained after taking a 98 MPH Hunter Greene fastball up an in during the second inning of Wednesday nights game against Cincinnati.

Arcia stayed in the game to finish his baserunning obligations but was pulled to be evaluated and replaced by the irreplaceable, Ehire Adrianza. It was later reported that Arcia has not suffered a fracture and would be monitored in the coming days. This all obviously changed today.

Richard Lovelady was designated for assignment this afternoon shortly before the Arcia news broke but gave many fans reason to believe that a move was on the horizon. Lovelady was just traded by the Royals to the Braves on March 30th.

No corresponding moves have been formally announced but speculation seems to favor Vaugh Grissom as Arcia’s replacement. Vaughn is not in the lineup tonight for the Gwinnett Stripers in Memphis, TN.

More to follow.
