I came away impressed with Mr. Krol last night. About whom i knew/know very little. How you handle adversity, they say, that tells you.
After a pretty spectacular entry against the lefties he is employed to smother he met his Waterloo via Fredi and the bare bullpen. Up to that time he had been noticeably aggressive, amusingly so, looked almost demonic to me. Lovely.
Then Rupp(Ruff?), 0 for 4 and 2 strikes and Chip salivating, killed him, and us. A mistake i guess. His rage was palpable, he really cared.
That’ll do for me with some of our milquetoast patsys to offer contrast. Sign him up, extend him. Don’t feed him till after the game.

Howard is hard to figure. Despite becoming awful by 1B standards against everybody else’s righthanders, he has continued to light up the Braves righthanders. And Ruf hasn’t been REALLY good ever, and certainly not lately.

Ah. Comprehension fail. Well, we do run out a lot of “pitch-to-contact” guys. If there’s contact, then you have a good chance of reaching base against our infield.
I persist in feeling warm and fuzzy feelings about Lucas Sims, Wren’s lasting contribution to our gaggle of pitching prospects, particularly if his gopherball tendencies turn out to be fluky.
Our pitchers seem to acquire exaggerated gopherball tendencies when they come to Atlanta.

Should we consider trying to deal for Braun? His numbers (cost) don’t look too bad in light of what contracts are now. Right handed. Can play left or maybe right, so right positions. He has a no trade, so somebody would have to sell him on “we will suck this year, be mediocre the next, but maybe deep in the hunt the next.”

Apparently Chevanka hasn’t given up a run since joining the organization in July last year from the independent league. Haven’t looked that up.

If he can stay healthy, he would be a good fit. We also wouldn’t suck as bad if he keeps putting up those numbers.
The Brewers would (as should) ask for a lot. Probably more than we should pay for an aging outfielder with an injury history.

Olney suspects, reasonably, that Brewers would have to eat a lot of it to move him. We can offer some miscellaneous high upside pitching and take the whole contract.

The thing about this team is I don’t get my hopes up when we have them at first and third. I assume we won’t score, and we generally don’t. In the odd chance we do, I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s a Schopenhauer approach to baseball.
