The strange case of Dr. Home and Prof. Road continues. Serviceable after the first, but the damage was done and a very depressing set of innings it was. A three run rally got to within two in the 7th, but Masset took care of that in the bottom half by allowing a pair to put it away for the Pirates. Between the bullpen, injuries, lack of power, and erratic performances, it is starting to feel like those preseason predictions of doom are nigh…
Nick Markakis remains on pace to hit 0 HR.
As a sad coda, when the radio guys went on an extended harangue about this group of guys is playing the game the right way for most of the first inning, I had to do the unthinkable and just turn it off.
Jonny Gomes Faceplant.
Alex Wood gets no run support, ever.
wow .. how bad we stink without Freeman .. Gomes is useless .. this team has NO power and cant get clutch hits … pretty bad .. I hope this longrange plan has some hitters included … looks like we are stuck with a powerless RF for a couple years ..gonna have to get some power potential out of LF, 3B and C in the very near future for us to be competitive .. not worried about pitching ..I think we will get middle relief ironed out … but C Johnson, uribe, K Johnson, Gomes , Pierzenski and Bethencourt are not the answers for sure
There’s your run, Alex.
Jace!
I really like this Jace kid!
No reason to let Gomes hit there. What, we want him in there for his defense?
Come on, Jason. Please end this.
Oddly, if Gomes is in the game, Maybin probably catches that ball unimpeded.
Braves win!
Win, win, win… well, at least a third of that.
Francoeur pulled a Melky today.
Homeward bound. Hooray.
