ESPN – Braves vs. Diamondbacks Box Score, July 28 2007 – MLB

I tire of this. Please, more offense, more relief, more something. This is the fourth extra-inning loss in the last two weeks. The Braves are 5 games back. You do the math.

Once again, they fell behind early and rallied. Smoltz gave up a solo homer in the first and two runs in the third, but Matt Diaz doubled home two in the fourth, then John singled him home. But after that, the Braves couldn’t push a runner across even given several chances, and in one of the homer-friendliest ballparks in the majors have played 21 innings of baseball with no homers.

In the tenth, Bobby used Yates, which was an obvious mistake, and soon enough there were two men on with one out and he had little choice but to make the switch to Paronto, trying to get the double play. First pitch, game over. Really, this is boring. Same thing every day, with minor variations. I want Teixeira. Rumor has it the deal is waiting for Bud’s approval, but I believe he’s currently following Barry Bonds around the country like Bonds is the Dead and who knows when he’ll get around to it.
