The forecast is for a 40% chance of rain, possibly hail…thunderstorms this afternoon…not looking too good. Playoff hockey and/or basketball anyone? Golf, perhaps?
As a lurker, I may be posting a link to a video that you’ve already seen, but if not, enjoy this collection of highlights from the Braves-Mets series, synced with the soundtrack from the Mets current team song.

40% chance of rain? I like the odds for baseball today.
Does anyone else think God has forsaken Braves’ baseball? It feels like there have been more rain delays in April this year than all of last year. Plus already one postponed till September. Even on the so-called sunny west coast too.
Lance
on April 23, 2006 at 4:51 pm
weather actually looks good, 63 and sunny right now. I like the chances of this one getting in.
Okay, in my APBA keeper league draft (deep league, most available players are rookies and fringe veterans — Cary and J-P are in the league, Alex used to be) I wound up drafting these players:
Brian McCann
Kelly Johnson
Mike Myers
Macay McBride
Orlando Palmeiro
Alejandro Machado
Mike DeJean
So three Braves and an ex-Brave prospect.
Nick
on April 23, 2006 at 5:22 pm
There always seem to be a lot of rainouts in April for everybody. Last year the Braves lucked out and didn’t get many, but there were still a couple games where it rained and should have been rained out but wasn’t (the Washington game last year where the field was a quagmire, for instance). April is one of the rainier months of the year for much of the East Coast, so there’s bound to be lots of rainouts. This trend normally seems to slow down during May and by June, there isn’t normally too much of a problem. So I don’t really think its that we’re getting snakebit so much as that’s just how weather is in April. And I should point out that it’s not like the rainout was a bad thing, with all the injuries we’ve got.
Maddux now 4-0 with a 0.99 ERA. 18 K, 5 BB, 0.73 WHIP.

I was going to make a comment about all of the throw overs to keep LaRoche close, with LaRoche being very slow and all and probably isn’t going to steal.
Then LaRoche goes ahead and steals and gets thrown out proving the throw overs right.

Y’know, I was damn-near shaking when Vidro hit the ball off the fence & Remlinger got the call. But after that serious hanger that Johnson fouled off, Rem’s out pitch there was VERY good.
Right now, with the lineup we’re rolling out, it’s hard for me to get too critical–a win is a win. Keep our head above water until our studs come back. As Eric B & Rakim once said, “Don’t sweat the technique.”

I saw a comment earlier, “let’s go to Milwaukee and win 2 games!”
I guess someone was looking ahead at the schedule and saw the Jorge Sosa-Ben Sheets match up.
Let’s all hope that the umpiring is different then last year’s game in Milwaukee with Sheets. I believe that’s now one of the infamous games from last year where Doug Eddings and Johnny Estrada developed a rivalry because for the umpteenth time, Eddings umped a game like a blind monkey on crack–the Sheets game last year should have been an indication in advance to…
the. worst. commissioner. in. sports. ever. bud. selig.
That Eddings should not be allowed to even buy a ticket to watch the World Series let alone ump in it!
Now that I am off my soapbox about our wretched trip to Milwaukee last year, yes, we have to get these first two games. It’s hugely important that we try and build some momentum though I realize everytime our boys come my way to this giant sh–box known as RFK Stadium, it sort of sucks the life out of the Braves and our offense in particular. (Thank God for Betemit). Our third series of the year affected by RAIN didn’t help either.
(It does feel like giant forces of God, ESPN, the NY Media, mother nature, Bobby Cox’s in game managing–are all conspiring against the Braves so far.)
Also, in response to something posed to me earlier…Remlinger sucks. This is not Mike Remlinger from 2000 or 2001, people. He sucks. He looks barely functioning out there and I am PRAYING that Mac’s favorite pitcher, Macay McBride, is finally healthy already. Enough with Remlinger.
Of course knowing Bobby, he will keep Remy and send Chuck James down—because that MAKES sense.
In the article, it says the Braves should expect all three infielders back during this Milwaukee series? I hope so though I really wish to hell the Braves would consider TRYING Betemit at first so we could keep his bat and send ridalin boy to the bench where he belongs.
Alex R.

What is the forecast for tonight in the District of Columbia?
Oh, and happy 29th birthday to Andruw Jones today.
I just got to watch that! That’s great! Hopefully we’ll have even more highlights to throw in there in October! Nice!
someone who posts here made that video, fwiw. props to him/her.
40% chance of rain? I like the odds for baseball today.
Does anyone else think God has forsaken Braves’ baseball? It feels like there have been more rain delays in April this year than all of last year. Plus already one postponed till September. Even on the so-called sunny west coast too.
weather actually looks good, 63 and sunny right now. I like the chances of this one getting in.

Brian McCann
Kelly Johnson
Mike Myers
Macay McBride
Orlando Palmeiro
Alejandro Machado
Mike DeJean
So three Braves and an ex-Brave prospect.
Jeepers.
ESPN.com – MLB – Box Score – Cubs at Cardinals
Maddux now 4-0 with a 0.99 ERA. 18 K, 5 BB, 0.73 WHIP.
The National’s shortstop situation is the definition of bad
..and we’re trotting out a middle infield tonight of Tony Pena and Martin Prado.
I had today’s game written down to start at noon (central time) from back when I wrote down the whole schedule in Feb! …set the recorder since I was gonna be gone all day then get home and it aint been played! LOL …nice surprise though… I’m glad I can see it live!
Yahoo has Betemit at short. Where’d you see Pena starting, Wryn?
Gamecast also has Betemit at SS.
Betemit at shortstop and Orr at third. No Pena tonight (darn.)
wtf though i heard that pena can play all the infield positions aside from catcher. why cant he play short and betemit 3rd?
To paraphrase Casey Stengel, we’d like to try playing Pena at short, but we’re trying to win a pennant.
Wow, I haven’t been here in years. Where has Merv disappeared to?
Does anyone here suspect that when Horacio gets off the DL that Bobby will replace Thomson with him? I still think Horacio has potential to do something great but this and last year he has done virtually nothing too impressive. What happened to the Horacio of 2004?
If I see another inside fastball strike being thrown to Soriano tonight, I am going to throw up…
We will see tonight if Joe Morgan still hates the Braves…
Did I mention I love Mad Dog?
ESPN: Nationals going for sweep.
Kind of misleading.
Joe Morgan is an idiot.
I also disagreed when they said the torch had been passed from Chipper, and that this was now Andruw’s team. Morons.
When I saw Morgan I made my 4 years son sing happy birthday to Andruw!!!!
Personally I’m sick of this line-up.
Chipper, Renteria and Giles: we need you!
Just one of them coming back would be nice.
I have decided that I cannot take listening to Joe Morgan tonight and am therefore confined to WGST thru Gameday Audio. If something weird happens that Skip’s gorgeous prose cannot convey, I will be annoyingly requesting descriptions. You have been forewarned.
Chipper still the man!!!!
Jadarm, you must be either JS or Bobby…
Pete Orr…harmless grounder for out #1. On the 2nd pitch.
Jenny, Skip rejoins the team in Milwaukee. Chip has radio with someone tonight, I think.
Crazy camera angles .. this is quickly reminding me why I don’t like ESPN.
Really…they sound the same. I guess Chip hasn’t said anything obviously stupid yet for me to be able to differentiate. I still vastly prefer him to Morgan. He’s an idiot, but he’s MY idiot.
Did I just hear “Wilson Beh-de-me” or something from Jon “I love Barry Bonds ” Miller?
This is going to be a long game.
It was ‘bet-te-meat’. Seriously.
“Pete Orr…harmless grounder for out #1.”
And Betemit?
Betemeat, harmless grounder to first for out #2. Like I said, long game.
One on for Andruw.
MVP! MVP!
Good grief Andruw.
Hey everyone,
Of course I am not there when the weather is perrrrfect.
Dang.
I overall like ESPN, but I hate Braves’ games on ESPN….unless the Braves win (you know it drives them insane.)
Alex, do you have tickets to tonight’s game?
That was a very dangerous first pitch to Soriano.
kc,
No…I decided against tickets because my wife and I wernt to Charlottesville yesterday for a tour of wineries with friends and wanted to be home tonight.
Plus, I am watching the game in High Def. on my 47 inch High Def. TV…so…that is also better then being there!
C’mon, John…at least Soriano didnt hit a homer.
Double play.
Go Prado.
It would be hilarious if while Gammons was in the stands at RFK, some 8 year old started sticking cotton candy and gum in his hair while he was talking! Ha!
Nice DP, boys. Hopefully, we will let Thomson have more then 6 innings and 74 pitches tonight…ok, Bobby?
47 inch HD TV? That’s good stuff. How much does it cost in the US now?
I don’t care if Thomson walks Soriano, that was the right way to pitch to him. Perfect DP!
I’m a big Prado fan. I was happy to see his callup.
So, Jon Miller is making everybody’s name sounds different…even Prado…
“Nice DP, boys. Hopefully, we will let Thomson have more then 6 innings and 74 pitches tonight”
Bobby: But Remlinger is needed for this right-handed batter.
(I still like you Bobby.)
Yeah, I am unfamilar with Prado so I can’t judge Miller’s pronunciations.
Is it Pr-ay-do. or Pr-ah-do.
Man Jon Miller really wanted that to be a homerun. “I think it disappeared in the french fry.”
KC-
I actually got a fantastic deal on the TV a year and a half ago and there was a rebate so I was able to get it for under 2. It’s the only way to watch sports!!!!
Dammit, is Thomson off tonight? Since the Mets are back to winning, we need this game tonight. Need it.
Or left-handed.
Already 0-1. Crap.
He’s not off, it’s just that every player on the Nats kills the Braves.
Brad-
When you spend 10+ years around Joe Morgan, it’s probably rubbed off hating the Braves…
“Since the Mets are back to winning”
Huh?
They lost today and have lost 4 of their past 6.
Yeah, sounds about right. At least we don’t have to listen to him say ‘four-cal’ anymore.
I’m pretty sure is Mar-teen Pra-tho
I don’t think they stress the th sound on the d though…. they dont emphasize the d too strong though either
…it’s spanish
Why is it the Atlanta Braves have a harder time against bad pitchers rather than good pitchers?
…okay… Brian still hasn’t shaved! LOL… I would think he had plenty of time to do that yesterday! LOL
The mets won their first 2 against the Padres. I am happy to hear they lost today but since they won 2 this weekend, we still need to win asnd keep them honest.
By the way, a quick note to all the Rasheed Wallace defenders: (a player I absolutely despise for being an obnoxious jerk)
Wallace got called for a foul on Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut (refs…how dare they!!!) and Wallace threw, the ball, cursed and scream and Got a technical. Oh yeah…Rasheed’s a real class act.
I would have ben awesome if right now, Andruw had shoved a pie in Morgan’s fat little face.
thomson just gave up a single to royce clayton. ouch.
yea that would have been great!
that is one short, stocky lil ump behind that plate tonight! LMAO
I know I’m rude!
WooHoo!! Go McCann!
BMac 50% throwing out runners. Tiny sample size, but still, nice going!
McCann’s looking good with that throw.
Jenny, are you watching the game with radio feed off WGST? If so, does the audio keep bumping up or down a second or two every half inning from video? I wonder why that is.
Someone give Mac a tranquilizer…Joe Morgan just admitted to being a lifelong friend of Bush. Yikes…if Mac hated Joe before….
McCann’s pretty good at blocking balls, and he’s already a great hitter. If he’s really improved on his throws to second, he could be the most valuable catcher in baseball THIS year.
“I don’t have one of those red phones to the white house”. Those of you missing the espn broadcast are missing a show.
See, that’s not as damaging as certain relevations in the Schuerholz book.
I probably won’t recap tonight, I’ve been logy all day and will retire early.
Am I the only one that wishes the first baseman on a play like that runs up to the pitcher and half-punches him in the chest with the ball?
How much longer does Zambrano have for the Mets? They may run him out of town in a hurry..
Prado was safe.
man… he almost got there
I’ll recap for you early, Mac. “Tony Armas kept the Braves off balance all night, going 7 shutout innings. The Braves only mustered 3 hits off Armas, and lost 3-0.”
I read today we get Zambrano at home next weekend.
Tony Kornheiser in High Definition…
“Makeup! Someone call the makeup truck!”
we’re missing half the game… they keep showing the booth and I really don’t care to look at them!
Kornheiser looks tiny.
Anyone would look small compared to Miller’s huge head and Joe Morgan’s huge ego.
That’s ok, Pete. A lot of major leaguers hit .194
Yeah, Kornheiser looks like he should be sitting on Miller’s lap telling Miller what he wants for Hanukkah…the size difference was enormous.
No, Wryn, I’m just on radio, since someone on my floor has hogged the TV to watch a crappy country music concert on NBC. And I can’t even get a smooth-streaming 12k radio feed. Pathetic.
Can we now PLEASE stop the insanity and make Tony Armas look like Pedro? Hell, we looked better against Pedro.
Our line-up is so darn weak. It’s beginning to dishearten me.
come on betemeat!
Chipper and Renteria should be back soon, which will help a lot, especially if Betemit can play second.
Also, Mac, y’all owned us this weekend. Made us look pretty bad. It’s not been a good weekend, thus far.
As a side note, I wish someone would rip out Jon Miller’s trachea for the way he pronounces “Betemit.”
I just love Betemit.
Pete Orr is making every pitcher looks like Pedro.
No one on ESPN noticed Betemit just got a hit and is now standing on first base.
Mac-
I dont think Bobby will let Betemit play 2nd…but he should…absolutely, should.
Bobby loves pete orr. He’s the 2000’s version of keith lockhart
Wow. That was absolutely terrible.
we make the nationals look awesome.
The Braves are making the Nationals looking like the Yankees as well.
Nah, Lockhart could throw and Orr can run.
I meant in terms of Bobby’s affections.
Newsday.com reporting Mets passed on a potential Dontrelle Willis to Mets for David Wright deal.
Can’t blame ’em.
Thomson imploding. Perfect.
Intentionally loading the bases for Schneider. I should just turn the game off now.
There are three Ryans currently in the game; they are all 1 for 2.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!
Whew!
If they have Frank Robinson and Joe Morgan broadcasting at the same time, which one is going to sound like the dumbass?
Awesome Prado!!!
In other news, Yahoo! Sports raised allegations regarding how Reggie Bush’s family got a 3,000 sq. ft. house in Spring Valley, Calif. The Bush family moved out this past weekend, and USC has asked the Pac 10 to investigate.. interesting.
That was great. Even got to hear Miller call Prado “Pardo.” What a miserable failure.
And I hate it when they interview the managers in the dugout. It adds next to no insight, and it detracts from the coverage of the game.
Pointless manager interview alert!
Although I suppose that it means less commercials…
Alex, going back to your HD TV. That’s indeed a very sweat deal! What’s the brand of the TV?
Of course the nats dont make a mistake when they play us. Figures.
Yeah, I actually do the coach’s show for high school football – it’s the most pointless Q&A session ever.
“So Coach, your team got beat 40-0 last week. Do you plan to play the starters through the third quarter this week against the #4 team in the state..?”
Almost…
brad, I think you’re even more negative than Alex R. Impressive.
I wish Frenchy has Andruw’s HBP tendancy…
The brand is an epson–the printer people!
I like how Prado wears a Barry Bonds-esque elbow pad.
I have a 30″ Samsung SlimFit Widescreen HDTV. And I got it for free. (Christmas present from the in-laws.)
Did Joe just call him “Lil’ Jon”?
Haha, I’m actually really positive. I just have no patience, and waiting on our starters to come back is killing me. I also hate losing to bad teams under any circumstances…but for the rest of the night, all of my comments will have something positive with them =)
The Randy St. Claire pitching visits counter hits 1..
I hate losing to crappy teams, too. And I hate not having any of the first three hitters in our line-up. I just try to think happy thoughts or I’ll start crying.
“We know (Brian Jordan) can hit” – Jon Miller
We do?
Thomson strike out. Could have been a double play =)
“There’s Brian Jordan. We know he can hit.”
What?! Who is “we”? And why are they allowed to comment on baseball?
Pete Orr is so very terrible. I used to like him.
I wish they’d just make it official and never air any games on ESPN other than the Red Sox and the Yankees. Those are the only teams they like to cover, and it would let the rest of the baseball world avoid the crap that we’re having to listen to right now.
I really dislike Pete Orr and his .190 batting average.
I’m getting very frustrated. Seriously, no one in the line-up–not even Thomson–would make a worse leadoff hitter than Pete Orr.
PETE ORR SUCKS!
“In sixty seconds, we’ll interview John Smoltz. Sixty seconds.. and in an hour, you might hear something intelligent from one of us”
Wanted: a major league infielder. Needed immediately.
“Soriano reminds me of Hank Aaron”. joe morgan
I love Smoltzie.
Vote 1 if you think we’ll win this game, 0 if you don’t.
0.
Pete Orr reminds me of Jor Morgan.
Both raise my blood pressure.
1
000000000000000000000000000
Gotta think positive. In addition we’re only down 1 in the 5th.
1
I’m afraid this isnt going to end well…
Shortstop “Bait um ee…” Never fails to entertain.
Andruw’s home runs from last year minus twice his uniform number.
jon miller can’t even say ‘safe’
At least they took the bat out of Guillen’s hands.
If Joe were Bobby Cox, we’d all kill ourselves.
Nice job thomson
Nice pitch John.
Great inning.
that inning lasted less than 2 minutes, for what it’s worth
A productive trip into the heart of the order. Andruw’s trying to pull everything, hitting lots of weak grounders.
B/c andruw knows he’s all the offense we have. He’s trying too hard.
He definately just threw the bat at the ball…
Hey, what did Joe Morgan say about Andruw’s HOF chance?
DAAAMN SON
That’s as strange of a play as I have ever seen…
Nice tag betemeat
He didn’t. He copped out.
Thomson showed some real athleticism there. Jumped over the bat that was thrown at him, while ducking out of the way of McCann’s throw to 2nd.
McCann!! again! beautiful
and Thompson did a great job getting out of the way! HAHA… that was pretty funny… dodging above and below!
Thomson avoided both the bat thrown by Church and the ball thrown by McCann, that’s pretty cool!
That was preety strange at the bottom of the 6th when betimit made that tag!!
Braves better win this game…..Thomson is pitching pretty good!!!
I won. Maybe y’all should try typing a bit faster, Miranda and kc.
Props to Thompson on that play. That move was more impressive than the throw and the tag.
I called armas, 7 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs an hour ago…hope I’m wrong
haha… I had to wait on my connection to the net …I sign off and watch then I’ll sign back on… I go back and forth lol
I really wish I had cable net
I don’t agree with that call at all!
I’m glad Jeff watched it and you know if Jeff actually WATCHED it… lol …it couldn’t have been a strike! LOL
thanks for taking armas out, frank. he was basically unhittable.
hmm…we need to trade Orr and Joe Morgan for a dozen baseballs and 2 dozen bats…yeah…
but isnt it a shame we cant trade the ANNOUNCERS?!?
new pitcher, mccann swings at 1st pitch. we’re just playing stupid now.
I know I could announce this game a whole lot better! …they get paid to do nothing! they aren’t even talking about the game half of the time!
…did adam laroche just try to steal 2nd?
Apparently we want prado leading off the 8th….
Sending Adam?! You gotta be kidding me…
I was going to make a comment about all of the throw overs to keep LaRoche close, with LaRoche being very slow and all and probably isn’t going to steal.
Then LaRoche goes ahead and steals and gets thrown out proving the throw overs right.
Go figure.
Man we need Chipper and Renteria and Giles in the lineup ASAP.Without them we can’t hit anything
This is horrible. I can’t think of one positive thing to say. I just hope we get the major leaguers back soon and Cox wakes the hell up.
Hey Brad, Thomson pitched a good game!
true! that’s 2 in a row for him.
its pretty bad if i just muted the tv and the announcers still get through my skin. thats never happened before and ive always had a lot of tolerance for bad announcers…
i dont know if i hear them with psychic abilities or the thought of them is annoying me but either way, its pretty bad.
and i was about to do the same thing Cory B. was
Nice catch by LaRoche
c’mon Prado… let’s try and get something started!
gosh marty (Bob Ueckers partner) off the movie major league is a better announcer!
Prado triple! wow…
PRADO!!
YES!!!!!!!! PRADOOO!!!! TRIPLE!
c’mon guys… get him in!
Way to go Prado! Not a bad way to go for your first hit.
Is there any way Pete Orr can eventually screw this up?
PRADO! 90 more feet and you would have debuted similar to Frenchy…
Okay man on 3rd, no outs, down by one. We gotta get him in guys.
Offensive Substitution…
Which is true in more ways than one. C’mon Diaz, don’t suck as much as usual…
c’mon Diaz!
Thanks diaz.
dang… c’mon orr do something here!
If he gets prado in, I’ll take back everything I said bad about pete orr
they can NOT leave prado on third! c’mon get him in!
Good decision not too run? That fly ball was pretty deep…not sure…
once again. we should trade pete orr and joe morgan for a dozen baseballs and 2 dozen baseball bats…but only after this AB.
Guillen’s got a really good arm though.
LOL… maybe he’ll surprise us like he did the other night
he walked orr! what a moron.
WALK! …c’mon wilson
man… I am so sick of hearing them say bete-MEET
yes yes yes!!!
I severely wish that Bobby would switch LaRoche and McCann in the order. They are both LH and slow and I think McCann is, at least for now, a better hitter.
BETEMIT!!!!
HOMER WILSONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!
…and they still can’t say his name!
Fan-freaking-tastic!!!
bete-meat! bete-meat! bete-meat!
Yessssss Take that Nets 3-1 baby
WILSON!!!!!!!
BET-A-MEET! BET-A-MEET! BET-A-MEET!
Bay-Ta-Meat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice hr BETA-MEAT
We have got to find this guy permanent at-bats.
Seriously, Stu. He’s def. an everyday player. 1st, anyone?
Ya can’t hit the ball without swinging Bay-ta-meat.
Bete-meat is awesome, please take Adam out of the lineup.
prado, orr, betemit, is there a tougher 3 outs in the majors?
the subs getting it done.
Betemit is 10X more valuable than laroche. he can play defense just as well, but can hit and is fast. do the right thing, bobby.
Man John Miller can’t get Betemit name right
Oh, did I mention I like Prado a lot? I think Bobby mentioned he likes Prado a lot back in Spring Training.
laroche is the new pete orr.
Oh yeah, that’s the real Adam, I weak grounder to the second baseman.
ok bullpen, 1-2-3.
Yeah, Brad, you wish!
What?! Reitsma for two?
Ok, he can’t locate his fastball again. Typical.
Reitsma in the 8th? Because of the hitters coming up, I assume.
As I said Brad…
Awesome! I HATE Guillen.
Like Jenny, I am listening to Gameday Audio. Wha is Joe Morgan’s take on Reitsma?
Could it be that Bobby is using his pen in the most reasonable way yet? Have the closer get the tough outs, let someone else clean up the Claytons and Schneiders?
That would be a reasonable strategy except for who our closer is…
good stop by prado… wish he could’ve hung on to it though! c’mon guys… let’s get this one and get out of this inning!
Ugg. Ward kind of scares me.
Reitsma is the king of little bleeder-type ground balls.
THAT WAS A STRIKE! …omg Brian even came up with it right away cause IT WAS A STRIKE no question about it
alright… we got out of it! thank goodness
3 more outs now
Very good job by Reitsma. We need to score few more runs I don’t feel safe with 2runs lead
mraver, Reitsma hasn’t pitched for like a week. So, he should be perfectly ok to go two innings tonight.
wow… that ball McCann just swung at was HIGH lol
anyone see Prado before that first pitch… what in the world was he doing… very interesting… I almost fell out laughing
I would love to have a Jon Miller “Beta-Meat” counter. I bet he has said it 300 times.
Yeah he has a weird twitch doesn’t he.
another walk for Prado! …very good!
Prado is the real deal.Wtg Kid
Did they just PH for Reitsma with Pena?
oh I know he’s said it at least that many times tonight… and wrong everytime! it’s horrible
I don’t know what Prado was doing… did it twice back to back right there before the first pitch… pretty funny though
Using Reitsma against the meat of the lineup in the 8th was a really good move.
No, it was a double-switch last inning. Orr’s out of the game. Reitsma’s in the leadoff spot.
yea… I def wasn’t expecting to see Pena!
…c’mon let’s get 3 outs!
He can still pitch this inning, but Oscar’s ready…
Unfortunately, I must now go to study break, eat brownies, and listen to my RA lecture us about how it is a bad idea to go outside when the tornado siren is going off. I will trust Reitsma to hold the lead, though my trust is probably misplaced.
Yeah, Pena for the defense late with a lead. Early 90s braves move there.
He’ll hold it down Jenny.
if we hold this, who stands to get the win?
Thomson I think.
Who pitched the 7th?
Nice, play…kid
Cormier
Cormier pitched the 7th.
REMLINGER AND VILLAREAL? WILL BOBBY EVER EVER EVER LEARN?
Braves have been playing exceptional defense lately.
Cormier should be getting the win.
Ok, Reitsma still can’t locate his fastball. How many times has he been pitching behind?
Reitsma’s got the nasty movement tonight.
Alex, who would you rather have up right now? They want James as a long-innings guy, and I don’t want Ray or Moylan up now….
But he has to make it hard.
We should absolutely walk Soriano.
Bobby never learns from mistakes.
Can they send Orr and Diaz back to Richmond to get them some at-bats? Bobby can keep Prado and Jurries on the bench.
We should absolutely not walk Soriano. He’s the tying run. I don’t want to bring the winning run to the plate.
mraver,
In my holnest option, Remlinger and Villareal are the least trustworthy guys in the pen. Can’t stand either of them.
More good defense, one more out.
That was risky from Pena. Just go to first, bro. One run means nothing.
NOOOOOO!
Stu,
I was being sarcastic but Reitsma’s scaring me. Still…better them Remlinger or Oscar.
But now we are getting one in there.
Oh, noooooooooooooooooooooo, Bobby………dont’ do it. dont do it. dont do it.
YES! REMLINGER!
Even though I know Remlinger’s warmed up, I really really want to see Chuck James right now.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?
Nice play Francouer. Time to switch. Rems for the save, damn this bullpen is scary.
Remlinger? Again???
Apparently Bobby hasn’t thought long enough on the fact that Remlinger sucks.
Haha, here comes Remlinger!!!
Come on Remlinger Get the job done.We need this win
Oh my God, Remlinger…I just threw up in my mouth. Someone call 9-1-1.
I don’t care if this move works out: it’s incredibly stupid. I’ll be surprised if Johnson doesn’t hit a walk-off homer.
Why would anyone bring in the worst pitcher on their staff in the game’s most critical situation? This is so unbelievably stupid….
Reitsma is the most ineffficient pitcher ever. He NEVER has an easy inning.
Alex- Don’t take this the wrong way, but I think you’re nuts. 🙂
oh god… let’s all pray
Rems is going to get the out here.
this move is inexplicable…..
our worst pitcher coming in for our closer in a situation that closers are supposed to pitch.
bobbys in game managment drives me nuts. thats the kind of crap that will cost us the game.
And should someone let Bobby know that Remlinger can’t get lefties out? Or, can’t get anyone out?
Anyone else just here Joe Morgan claim he didn’t get any water?
That said, Remlinger is certainly not the best option at this time.
I heard it Chuck.
Dix,
and yet people still actually defend Bobby.
It’s like I sad last night, we win divisions DESPITE old man river Cox, not because of him.
I also said for veteran leadership we already have Snoltz and Chipper…Remlinger and Jordan should no longer have Major league jobs. Just disgusting.
Remlinger isn’t fooling anyone right now.
Whew! I’ll take it.
W-H-E-W.
phew
Boo-ya! Rems nails it down, hangers and all.
And we did NOT win this game because of Cox.
We won despite him.
Thank goodness.
Whew. All it takes is one good pitch.
This game should go under the Wikipaeda entry for “winning ugly”.
YES! We win…
alright… g’nite everyone… I’m tired!
…and they had to say beta-MEET one more time! UGH
Joey, it’s pretty hard to fool Johnson. He’s a sweet hitter.
All these happened because Reitsma’s control sucks.
Wtg Braves. Now let’s go to Milwaukee and take 2 from Brewers .Keep it going Braves
wow, so that’s the secret to having success with remlinger, don’t ask him to go more than one batter and hope you get lucky
These are the wins you have to grind out if you’re the gimpy Braves. Good pitching in the very important moments. Tonight’s game was awesome. More new rookies and the train-kept-a-rollin’.
I like John in NC’s optimism. Echo that sentiment, friend.
Thomson pitched well (Got out of two big jams) Good thing we didn’t trade him.
With 3/4 of the infield out with LaRoche as second most experienced starter how can you urkey whine that Cox can’t coach
With 3/4 of the infield out with LaRoche as second most experienced starter how can you turkeys whine that Cox can’t coach
I think he wanted to get Rietsma a few inning becuase he hasn’t pitched in a few days
Thomson didn’t pitch well today, at least not for him. He walked a lot of batters and gave up two long flies that would have been homers in most other major league ballparks.
Fortunately, he was playing the Expos.
I am guessing Renteria will back playing on Monday, Chipper on Tuesday, and Marcus on Wednesday. Then, kick Adam out of the lineup and Beta-meat is the everyday first baseman.
The Natspos lineup from 1-4 is actually as good as any team’s. They are one power bat away from being one pretty good lineup. As long as Vidro is healthy, this team is not as bad as I originally think considering their starting pitching and the bullpen.
I’m sorry Alex, but I don’t understand your hatred of Remlinger. He hasn’t been overwhelming, but he hasn’t been lit up either. I’m okay with continuing to give him a chance. I just don’t see a lot of significantly better options at this point. If he starts getting bombed, he can be let go. I respect your baseball knowledge and agree with most of your posts, but I just don’t see why you are so against Remlinger.
Alright, if Chipper comes back before Giles, who goes down first, Prado or Pena? I love Penas glove but it looks like Prado can do both…LOOKS LIKE he can do both…
Thomson didn’t not have is A game tonight. At the Some time He kept us in the game long enough that our Bats wake up .This is one game that we should have lost. But a win is a win and that what matter at the end
Does anyone know how to pronounce Villareal??? Jon Miller was pronouncing it Vil-ya-rreall… Just wondering
Alex,
I’m stunned. You believe the Braves winning all these years is despite having Bobby as manager instead of because of him? You’ve got to be kidding and all you have to do is ask the players about Bobby.
Vee-ya-re-al. The double el (ll, or elle) is pronounced like a y.
Yeah, ESPN.com has it “VEE-yuh-ray-al”. They have pronounciations on their player pages.
Finally, according to yahoo:

In the article, it says the Braves should expect all three infielders back during this Milwaukee series? I hope so though I really wish to hell the Braves would consider TRYING Betemit at first so we could keep his bat and send ridalin boy to the bench where he belongs.
Ramon Ortiz was apparently upset that the Nats skipped his turn in the rotation and went with Tony Armas Sunday instead.

Believe me, Ramon, I speak for all of Braves nation when I say that we were sad that you were skipped as well.
Yes, RFK is a terrible baseball park, but I attended a game where Smoltz notched a win and Betemit and Estrada homered. Betemit seems to be able to hit in RFK
