I will link to a game story if I find one and if I care enough to. Bad news for us Buddy Backers; Hernandez allowed the game’s only run in the ninth inning. John Thomson went three, striking out four and allowing but one hit and one walk. Horacio Ramirez continues to be used more sparingly than the other starters; in relief, he threw two innings, striking out two and also allowing but a hit and a walk. Roman Colon also allowed a hit and a walk, striking out one in one inning. Mark Childers dupilcated that, but without the strikeout. Jorge Vasquez mixed things up, allowing a hit but no walks in the eighth, and striking out one.
The Braves started their putative regular eight. Jordan was 0-3; McCarthy replaced him in left and was 0-1. Langerhans did not play. The only hits were by Furcal, Giles, Chipper, and LaRoche, one per infielder. Interestingly, Kelly Johnson played third base after Chipper left. If the Braves trade Betemit, Johnson could have a spot as a supersub.
Does anyone know if there is a Spring Training TV schedule out there anywhere? Thanks.
The schedule on the Braves mlb page lists which games are on TV. The next one on ESPN is Monday against St. Louis.
Kelly Johnson = left-handed Eli Marrero for $315,000. He can’t catch, but he plays all three outfield positions, shortstop, and third, and reportedly he’s been playing some second at camp.
Marrero could catch?…
