The hot stove is starting to heat up, and while the Braves kicked it off with the Jorge Soler for Griffin Canning trade, they have been quiet on the MLB front since. However, there still has been a lot of action throughout the organization. In today’s piece, we will update the Braves MiLb signings, 40-man roster additions, new coaches, and players that have been let loose.
Braves MiLB Signings
- Ray Kerr: Kerr was non-tendered by the Braves earlier in a cost-saving move while he rehabs from Tommy John surgery. AA re-signed him to a MiLB deal.
- Royber Salinas: Salinas was once a promising young pitcher in the Braves organization, but the star fizzled out in the abomination A’s organization. Hopefully, returning to his roots will provide a spark.
- Carlos D. Rodriguez: 23 y/o Rodriguez has been a minor league lifer that can play all 3 OF positions. He’s got some pop and speed and could be a good 26th man in MLB.
- Kolton Ingram: A Georgia boy, Ingram was drafted in the 37th round of the 2019 MLB draft. He received a cup of coffee in the Angels org, but didn’t stick. The Braves are in need of a left handed reliever and there’s some potential here.
- Kobe Kato: Kato started professional ball in 2023 and has shown a true knack for getting on base, carrying a .385 OBP in 574 PAs. His college OBP was quite extraordinary (.463) and, let’s be real here, the Braves could use a little patience in the lineup. Kato is a jack of all trades, dabbling all over the diamond but his primary position has been 2B.
- Enoli Paredes: If he can stay healthy, this one is probably the most interesting as Paredes has a live arm, but struggles with control.
- Charles Leblanc: Leblanc was a minor league lifer until 2022 when he got a taste in the Marlins org. He seems like a Matt Diaz type of player that could be valuable in a platoon or could hold his own while filling in for an injured player.
- Connor Gillespie: Drafted in the 9th round in the 2019 draft, Gillispie’s been a starter with lackluster results. I’ve a feeling that that the Braves are going to try him out at AAA in a reliever’s role to see if he can add a little to all of his pitches.
- José Devers: Rafael Devers‘ cousin, this Devers is not very exciting and is likely org filler.
- Zach Thompson: a 31 y/o SP, Thompson will likely be one of those dudes that gets a call or 2 over the course of a season and then DFA’d and shipped back to Gwinnett.

Looks like the minor league position players that have been signed have been a concerted effort to get more patience and on base skills.
I couldn’t be happier about that approach. We need a philosophy change. I like Kato. We might need him if Ozzie implodes
When I hear “Kato” it makes me think of the band Urge Overkill. But my take on Ozzie should go up tomorrow.
Carlos Rodriguez was a high OBP guy last season also.
