The Braves announced on Monday afternoon that they have selected the contract of LHP Dylan Dodd. While this move was anticipated, the corresponding moves are a little surprising. Jared Shuster was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett after a rocky debut in D.C. on Sunday and OF Jordan Luplow was designated for assignment. Luplow’s $1.4 million was the only guaranteed contract the club handed out this off-season which makes this move a bit of a head scratcher. He can pass through waivers and be sent to Triple-A or another team can pick him up and absorb his contract that he signed with the Braves. Jared Shuster can return for his Friday start against San Diego in Atlanta, assuming Max Fried goes on the IL and Shuster is selected in tandem. Kyle Wright is not eligible for return until Tuesday, April 11th.
