What surprises me the most is the drop betwen Milwood and Neagle. They have had some workhorses.
I have fond memories of Brad Clontz
The Big Three! It’s been a joy to watch them.
It grieves me to disagree so vehemently with ububba and become such a player hater of BB Gun Laroche. It’s clear that the relievers didn’t perform in the playoffs and I’m usually the first to shout “it’s the pitching, stupid!” That point is never clearer than when I look at the above list.
But our point is that it is so much easier to find a quality improvement at first base than exceptional pitching. For me, BB Gun doesn’t get it done, gets the team out of the dugout and back on the field way too many times, and I think that has a cumulative effect. I’ll applaud his post-season heroics, but his upside looks very limited to me.
Wow well Smoltz has a chance to become #1 on that list.. All he has to do is pitch 150-200 innings for the next 2 years.
Strictly speaking, nobody has any chance whatsoever at moving on that list at all. 😉
Actually, I think I ran the list for 1991-2010 or something like that. They don’t have next year’s stats yet, though.
ububba, I don’t think we are a bunch of LaRoche haters, we are just frustrated by the lack of progress Adam has been showing the past season. Personally, I think it’s ok to have a bb gun at first base as long as he only costs minimum salary, which the Braves can cover his short-comings in other positions.
This is why this coming season will be critical for Adam. The 2007 season will be Adam’s fourth season, which means he will be earning at around $2M, and Adam will have to prove he is more than a bb gun in 2006 to justify the potential jump in salary.
But kc “He has such a great swing.” I have a great swing too!
I bet we stick with Adam until he falls apart and teams like Washington, Kansas City, so on fall out of their races and then we will pick someon up and win 65 of our last 80 ans win the east.
