Baseball Prospectus – Prospectus Triple Play: Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Devil Rays

The race is pretty much over… Four guys in Richmond who might be around for October.

BP ran 10,000 simulations of the last 50 or so games. The Braves won the division outright 9,921 times and shared it 33 more.

A line seems to have dropped out of their Johnny Estrada section, making it sound like Estrada is nothing with the bat and Maddux’s Personal Catcher. Obviously, they’re talking about Blanco.

  1. Interesting stuff with the simulations. As far as the Richmond item, I don’t think we need to see anymore of Joe Dawley. I wouldn’t mind getting a look at Buddy Hernandez to see what all the fuss is about.

  2. I’d rather give Dawley a chance than continue the nightmares that are Boom-Boom and Gryboski. I don’t think that the Braves take Buddy seriously.

  3. Dawley’s line speaks for itself. really, its not that much different than Marquis being called up and struggling. If you don’t have a chance to right the ship before you’re sent down, then what’s the point in being called up (though I do understand that Dawley was being hammered…). As for Buddy Hernandez he definitely deserves a shot (I live in Richmond). I mentioned yesterday Cunnane’s line and he gets called up today. I do think Buddy deserved the chance more than Cunnane, but C has shown in the past the ability to strike batters out (if not get hit hard too). We shall see I suppose. At least a move was made, and Marquis is being used.
