4/4/98 — Walt Weiss has a pulled hamstring. Which means that Rafael Belliard gets to play every day for the time being, since no one else on the team can play shortstop. Graffanino’s played two games there in his major league career. With Andruw struggling, the Braves should probably consider hitting the pitcher seventh for the time being.
Ah, I miss Rafael Belliard.
When Rafael came in during the 8th inning of Game 5 (actually not sure which game) 1996 World Series, he booted a played that allowed the inning to continue. We all remember what happened next, Leyritz hits the homer, yada, yada, yada…
I felt so bad for Rafael in that moment. He failed at his one job during a huge game. That was the darkest moment for me as a Braves fan, not because we would lose the series, but because I hate to see my guys come up short.
P.S. Where did this thread come from? Very interesting…
The Next button loops around to the oldest post. No Pepper’s was “A New Beginning” or something, so I was intrigued, but it was a couple years old in reality :).
