I took my wife to see “42†today, so I missed the game. I was a little surprised to see the Nationals forfeit the game after reading these quotes:
“Honestly, I think our lineup’s better,†Steven Strasburg said. “They’re hot right now. It’s early and it’s not about how many wins you necessarily finish up with in April, it’s how many you have at the end of the year.â€
“They’re good, I don’t think they’re better than us,†Danny Espinosa said. “They’re a good ballclub, they have talent. They’re hot right now, they only lost one game, but they’re hot. It all evens out.â€
I guess that is Nattitude for you…
…Now that I check ESPN, it looks like the Nats didn’t really forfeit.
Paul Maholm continues to make Frank Wren look good (as has the rest of this team) going 7 2/3 of shutout ball.
Chris Johnson went 4-5, BJ was 3-5 and JUp and Andrelton Simmons both went yard.
I know it’s early, but this was a big weekend. Anytime you can go to the division favorite’s house and sweep them, with two of their “studs†pitching, it’s big.
The Braves have now won seven in a row against the Nats, who now fall to third place in the NL East. Like I said, it’s early. But this is a lot of fun.

Congrats. Naming a son after a major-leaguer might turn out to be a great idea—certainly worked for Mickey Mantle (who was named after Mickey Cochrane).
Tonight should be fun. Headed to the Yanks/O’s ESPN game in The Bronx and I can’t wait to field that first question from my Yankee pals: “So your team is looking good, huh?”

Was at the game today and Maholm looked really good and worked quickly in between long rests watching Gonzalez get shellacked. Gio had very little movement and less location today, and the lineup teed off on him. Even many of the outs were loud. Then some guy named Duke came in and left with an ERA well over 13. The Nats pitchers looked AAA today against a pretty hot hitting lineup. Even BJ got in on the action.
Just looked into upgrading or switching my very basic service to get Braves programming. Fifty bucks a month on top of what I pay now. I am thinking maybe Aereo and hoping the bad guys have an over the air channel.
I think right now Aereo is just available in NYC. But I’m very interested to hear from people how they like it. Has anyone on this board tried it?
Also: as ESPN notes in the game story, last year, Justin Upton didn’t hit his seventh homer until June 23.
